thanks for your replay .as you said doors are to be opened only when lever pulled twice .no it is not .my doors are opened only one pull is enoughf weather it is centrally locked or unlocked
it is new fabia .i am confused

On the left side of your drivers seat there is a switch for activating/deactivating the central locking system manually.
If the door is not getting locked from inside by pressing the switch ( In this case with car stationary) No one should be able to open the doors from outside. If this is so your central locking mechanism is working.
Else rush to service station.
Pulling lever of any door once deactivates the central locking mechanism of the car. Pulling it once again and giving a slight push to the door slightly together, the door will open.

once you sit inside the car and close all door from inside , then by pressing the switch (with a key sign) No one should be able to open the doors from outside. If this is so your central locking mechanism is working.
Else rush to service station.

There may be changes in the locking mechanism in the new car. What does the manual say?

yes admin , today i made a call to TAFE bangalore , and vinayaka skoda , and as well as priti cars hubli , i asked the door locking machnisem the answer i got is

first i called to vinayaka soda , to SA Mr krishna , i explained about this he told that to open the door from inside , one need to pull the lever twice , and further not willing to talk anymore , and said me to bring the car , dissappointed

then called to TAFE , one guy was clearly told and explained me throughly about door locking system in new fabia

his answer was , that in new fabia , the door opens from inside by pulling lever/latch once weather it is centrally locked or unlocked , but he said twice pulling the latch was in old fabia , that has been removed in new fabia , i asked him why thay removed this function , he said , people was not satisfied with this option , and for emergency exit campany ruled out this option ,

and i asked about automatic door locking option

his answer was , it can be activated in service center with the computer VAS michine

he said there is advantages and dis advantages of auto locking system
first advantage - doors are gioing to be locked once the car reaches 20 kmph , and no one can open the door from out side , but any one can open the doors from inside by pulling the door latch once while moving also door opens

disadvantage- if this function is activated , if we forget the keys inside the car it will be auto locked after 15 minutes of time , then it is a going to be the problem to open the doors then need the second key or car to be brought to service stattion , or key should be requst the skoda company to give the duplicate key , nearly it takes the 90 days time to get it done

this situation will be wrose

and finally called priti cars , his answer was the same only one pull of latch is enoughf from inside , and for auto locking system he said it can be activated , and it is good to have this function , he said bring the car to service station he will make this activated ,

why these people dont tell the people about the autolocking feature while the time of delevery it will be nice to have done , as now i need to move the car for service station for 250 kms simply waste

and finally asked about the engine , either irt is a TSI or MPI
he says that this is a new engime 1.2 HTP , while the old one was 1.2 MPI

our fourm friend (Mr . Pravin ) today made me the offer to call him , and i called him , he was nice to guide me , to contact the vinayaka skoda , and finally did the research and got this answer

thanks ADMIN for giving the answers

I am glad we could help.
I remember that polo has only 'one pull' to open doors so i guessd it would be the same for the new Fabia too.

This is something that even I have not understood fully even after almost three years of ownership. Read the manual helps a lot.

TSI/MPI/HTP - Both the old and the new 1.2 petrol engines are HTP as well as MPI. Name HTP was given the becasue of the characteristic of the engine. The engines are Multi point injection - so they are MPI too.

TSI however is totally different.

A word of caution - never leave your car without taking out the key for however little time you have to step out - both for safety and security reasons.

Hello All,

the MPI/HTP/TSI, all relates to the technology behind a petrol engine.
If u go by the upcoming or newest to oldest, then the below describes;

TSI is superior to HTP
HTP is superior to MPI.

Details are:

MPI: Multi Point Fuel Injection (MPFI) : known from the Maruti. MPI is the replacement of traditonal carburetor.

HTP: High Torque Performance: a tech used for Diesel engine: to notice this technology, any one can try the experiment I did: put ur HTP machine in reverse gear, and release the clutch to a certain level that the car will not vibrate but will roll in a slight inclined surface, what a diesel engine does, due to high torque of the engine.

TSI: engine with a supercharger: used to use more air instead of petrol to get a good mixture with good fuel economy. Its from the sports car technology.

Any comments on this from any is welcome.

tyre pressure: Yes it does make a difference. I stick to ~30.

sure ADMIN tyre pressure is very important , while i checked the tyre pressures , it was 35 pounds , so thats why it was making cabin noise on patchy roads , then as a guy said i reduced to 28 pounds , now the car is moving very smooth , with no much cabin noise

I have managed to extract 19+ on bangalore pune highway with decent load. My lowest on any long trip is 15+ with full load and ghat driving. I usually get ~17 in my long trips. My long trips are usually more than 1500 kms each.

I have managed to get upto 16kmpl on fairly long city runs..

I am facing an issue. While checking the engine oil, I noticed that the oil is close to the lower level of the dipstick..

since my car has done only 1800 kms, this appears to be odd. I have checked for leakages (drips) and found none..

called up workshop who say that oil topup needs to be done as engine oil consumption is around 500 ml per 1000kms for the first 2000 kms.. i find that explanation slightly unconvincing.. any one else faced any similar issue?

Sad but true. Not all engines have this problem but almost every manufacturer suggests so in their manual. Good that you check regularly. VW engines have a greater appetite initially.

Replacement is how Skoda works in most cases. But you can request the manager for a repair. It may be possible to get the broken part replaced with a scrapped car's. It will all depend on your relations with the manager. No harm in trying.

If you think it can be fixed from a local garage temporarily, no harm either. You may pass through the poor animal again Smile

Normally Skoda follows the principle of replacement only. I can't see them doing any repairs.

I had a auto hitting from behind resulting in Rear right tail lamp plastic casing cracked.
As the plastic quality is good and is thick I put araldite and driving since a year. No water enters the assembly.
Did not feel like spending Rs 2400 for the complete assembly Laughing
