The european versions and iterations of Skoda Fabia engines [include vRS] have stronger engines, naturally whose top speed will exceed Indian versions.

I have a Fabia 1.4 MPI Petrol and I've cruised at an indicated 170 kph as long as roads and safety permitted [on a highway back from Mumbai]..

Will be interesting to know everyone's observations/experiences.

Cheers,
aK

Noted, mate. I put safety above everything else when I drive.. As I said, the speed was done as long as the roads permitted me to do it safely. I didn't try or push the vehicle to 170. I was just on the accelerator and the car just did it with no struggle.. In fact, I was so busy enjoying the drive and the scenery around that it was my wife who mentioned to me we were doing 170ish..

Not the Mum-Pune expressway but the Mum-Blr highway [whatever the road was called; can't recall now]..

Cheers,
aK

Robin can share. I remember him stating in another thread or telling me that he's done an indicated 150 kph or 155 kph. But he's not very enthusiastic about driving at high speeds.. Smile

Please be careful and use extreme caution while driving at high speeds [if you plan to test yourself]..

Yea it was the Mum-Pune Expressway. I have touched 150 a couple of times, a touch and go type. I have heard that villagers have broken the fence at many places and cattle come on the road. I don't do that insane speed anymore. I am not speed junkie anyway.

I did 148 speed with my 1.2 MPI petrol on Jaipur to Udaipur Highway and the car was very stable. Even some car magazines mentioned as top speed as 149 for 1.2 MPI.

Let me not quote the figure here exactly, because I'm in no mood or will to set new land speed records with the Fabia. But, yes, I was a tad below 200 and trust me, it was scary as hell after I saw the speedo, and immediately got back down to the 110 that I'm most comfortable with while on NICE Road, Bangalore. I was infact, celebrating 2500kms on the ODO for the Fabia and took her to NICE to open her up gradually. Trust me, it was a bomb.

Nevertheless, new age engines do not really need a run-in as much as the old ones, but why take a chance? I've grown her like my own blood baby, so even the miniest of scratches gives blood-curdling eyes.

Btw, I own a 1.6 Fabia, but the one with the 14 inch wheels and no rear-defogger/wiper... Evil or Very Mad Didn't expect Skoda to do this to me ! Grrr...

Hi Memphes.D,

welcome to the forum. Quite familiar with your forum handle from TBHP.com.

Close to 200 is good and can indicate what the 1.6 engine is capable of. Take care when doing speeds. See you around.

i recently purchased my fabia which is 1.2 Petrol version. on my first ride which is on delhi-gurgaon highway i touched 120 with my fabia and it is very much stable in this speed. The car is much powerful in 2nd and third gear but one thing which i noticed about that the reverse gear is very weak, i have to accelerate more for reverse. Overall i love the way it looks and the way it drives.

Touched 167 km/hr yesterday on my Fabia 1.2 TDI on Salem-Coimbator NH. I was driving at 120 km/hr when a PY registered Jaguar overtook me "very slowly". I just followed the Jaguar admiring the beauty of it and didn't realize the speed of my car - Fabia was very stable at that speed and I was not pushing too hard for the maximum (believe I could have increased the speed a bit more with some effort). The moment I saw 167 on the display I reduced the speed back to 120's.

i drive my fabby approx 800KM till today and the colour is Silver. its very good car to drive if we leave the mileage section then overall it is best in all other section like speed, comfort, stability and especially the performance. but in safety side one thing which is very much important is missing (i.e. car cannot be locked from inside while driving).

One thing which i notice today is that while driving in speed over 90KPH and with all windows closed there is very loud drumming of air in ears like old cars because of which i have to open littlel bit of one of the front window i dont know why this happens. My friends told me that this is due to mud flaps or something in boot is responsible for that but there is nothing and after checking it is clear that mud flaps are also not accused of this problem.

Do anyone what is this?

I searched it on net and lastly i found that there is no solution to this either than the upper one which i do(i.e. lowering window).

Sorry for long post.

I had this problem after second service of my car, when i asked the service adviser, he said something related to AC fitting and got it fixed.
Its better you take the car to the service station and its should be done in a day.

Well, i have touched 145-150 kmph with ease in my 1.2 petrol version. But the mileage takes a severe beating in doing so...

^^ Yes, true. The trade off is between someone wanting to reach a place quickly [safely] or getting a higher return on fuel purchased, time no bar. Rolling Eyes
