I thought let me be the first one to start this new topic. Exclamation

Iam using Nokia E71 for the last 18 months with all its email capabilities.

Its a good substitute for Blackberry if you don't want to get into that league.

Overall a nice phone which i would like to recommend.

Cool Uneet.. I've seen my ex-manager have an E-71 few months back and it's cool and functions similarly to BlackBerry, for E-mail sync. Only it retains Nokia's form and function.

I currently own a BlackBerry 8520 and also a basic Nokia phone [so basic, it doesn't even sport a VGA camera]. 8520 is awesome and is a great music phone too. Never imagined a BB to have such good music quality.

Thanks for sharing, mate.

Nokia's email software is also gaining popularity.
This is also Push Email with the name of NOKIA MESSAGING as in Blackberry.

It run with GPRS which is very cheap nowdays.
So all in all i pay Rs. 98/month to use this facility alongwith chatting, messenger, Gtalk, all applications requiring online support, internet surfing etc.

Has anyone ever tried tethering the Blackberry to access Internet on a laptop? I used to do it without a fuss on the Nokia E61 which i had. I have been using an 8900 (Javelin) for some time now and just cant get it to work. I mean it connects and shows that its tethered but nothing happens after that. Cant connect to any site, download mails etc. Airtel is my service provider. That apart its an amazing handset.

RM my friend,

I have the 8520 and I have the same problem. Airtel is my msp too and it simply won't connect. I'd banged my head for this problem and even checked with Airtel BB support since I had the unlimited plan [699] with download and all, but since this was BB plan, they don't have any idea on gprs support for BB.

Seeing it wasn't worthy i downgraded from 699 to the basic 299 plan now. Such a sad thing na? Unfortunate too since that might have actually been sufficient for me. Now I'm hunting for BSNL's EVDO data card..

Otherwise, like you said, the BB device is quite cool and met my criteria too [play music with good quality].

ak,

I think i pay 899 for the same thing, pal. I use a Reliance Data Card too which is pretty decent. I was just trying this for the heck of it.
But i still do want it to work. Never know when i might need it. Will do some research and see what i can find.

Hello,

I have replaced by existing E71 with HTC Legend.
It has the best screen display with amoled screed and 16M colours.
With Android 2.1 on it and an update for froyo 2.2 is on the cards it is much more practical than iphone due to the itunes issue.

Battery life seems to be a problem as Iam not even able to get through the 24 hour cycle.

I got this for 22.5k and its worth it.

Uneet,

Cool and congrats. I was just sharing with a colleague yesterday [who lost his Motorola V3 Razr in Ladakh 2 weeks prior while on a holiday], that HTC makes some of the coolest and maal worthy Android phones today. And mostly ones exceeding 20K.

Your post reaffirms my belief Smile

Congrats on the new gadget. Have lotsa fun.

Hi Ajay,

This is for the first time that Iam using an HTC device. I must admit that it really is a nicely built phone with no software glitches.
Updates were done without connecting the phone to the laptop unlike any other phone.
Iam most delighted to use my work emails on my phone. It is nearly perfect to the levels of a Blackberry device.
The amoled screen resolution is way better than my wife's iphone 3gs screen resolution. Maybe that's the reason that the battery dries up quite quickly!
With thousands of free applications and games available in the android market, you will never feel low with this phone.

All in all it is 9 out 10 for my HTC LEGEND.

Quick update. I got the 8900 to finally tether though speeds are nothing much to harp about.
But it works. It does work and without a hitch.

I am not at all a mobile buff. I don't even know the model number of my mobile Smile.

Is the touch screen resistance based or inductance based? I have heard that the resistance based pack up pretty early in life.

Hey Guys,

I have recently changed my HTC legend and now bought Blackberry 9780.

HTC Legend was a wonderful device and i loved every moment of it, but I wanted to shift my focus to more business phones now, so BB was my first choice.

Way too late to respond to this now, perhaps, but BB 9780 is a lovely phone. Great feedback from that keyboard and much better screen compared to 'older' BBs.

Sadly, I lost this phone after 7 months of ownership. 23K down the drain Sad

After owning around 10+ phones, this is the first and only phone I had 'lost'.

Hope you're enjoying the 9780..

Might be silly but when I lost a phone for the first time, in end of May last year [a BB 9780], I swore to myself I won't buy a new phone for the next 1 year [to confirm to myself that I am not very old and definitely don't have the alzheimer's yet]..

However, this phone is tempting and has been recognized as the phone with the best camera in a mobile phone [yep, better than i4S].

Also keen to see how iPhone 5 will be [might finally give into an iPhone if the 5 is any good]. This phone seems a top contender for my money.

Have you guys checked this phone out? It's the first mobile phone to come out for sale after Sony and Ericsson parted ways.
