The the PD engines in Jetta, Laura, Superb will be changed to the 140 bhp TDI CR (common rail) since the PD engines won't comply with new emmision norms. Jetta and Passat will also have the 1.8 TSI petrol engines.
What will happen to the Octavia and Fabia PDs. Fabia will get the Polo's 1.2 tdi cr, but when?
Is it an end for Octavia now? It can't be sold in major 11 cities. It is time to retire the good old horse and bring the Laura price down to more realistic levels.

Good news and finally.. PD can be put to rest and let the CRDI engine's onslaught begin.
Surprising VW is feeding it's own immediate competitor with the same engines; for Skoda provides more VFM with their cars which become a pain in the rear for VW cars.
Most likely the YETI will also have a 140bhp 2.0 crdi engine when it's in the showrooms; also plonking the 1.2 TSI or 1.8TSI petrol engine to go along with the diesel.
Interesting times for Skoda; purely from a product perspective..
Shouldn't this 2.0 139bhp engine also make it's way into a sport version Fabia That would be mighty interesting with a bigger sales price to foot _________________ Peace precedes Prosperity.. |

Skoda was planning to bring the Fabia combi. I guess the delay could be because they thought of bringing the newer engines. Even though there is hardly any market for the combi, I hope they bring the better of 1.6 diesel engines. How about 105 bhp?
Skoda was also planning for a Fabia 1.9 Tdi which was a PD engine. Will the Fabia with a 1.6 diesel be launched? _________________ Robin |

No Robin, I strongly don't see Skoda bringing a 1.6 crdi Fabia at all. For 1) it will sabotage VW's efforts of getting out a 1.6 petrol Polo [and also a 1.6 diesel later if they have strong demand for it] and 2) Fabia sales are already low and do not qualify for more powerful engine; frankly there is no market for it and nobody wants to spend more on the already 'perceived' pricey Hatch..
Doubt it.. I doubt the Fabia Combi will even see quarterly double digit sales; station wagons have hardly done well in India. Except for the Indigo Marina.. _________________ Peace precedes Prosperity.. |

I am rather surprised to Skoda using VW 1.2 diesel of Polo.
Thought they will keep 1.4 PD to avoid direct competition.
Will have to watch next months Fabia sales figures after polo is rolling in full swing. _________________ Rgds

I think the Skoda Europe too is planning to get rid of the PD engines. These engines are not manufactured in India. Skoda India will have no choice but to replace the engines. |
