I think it is just the stock clearance as new Fabia is expected this month. _________________ Robin |

The numbers seem to be oscillating between Fabia and Jazz . If Skoda can't get the numbers now, it never will. Next few months will be interesting to watch.
Yeti launched? I thought they were launching it on 18th Nov. |

This is the best time for Skoda to pinch in with the fabia and a lot depends on their A.S.S
For Yeti, these are the confirmed bookings with dealers for the upcoming launch. _________________ Currently driving - XUV 5OO, Honda Civic, Skoda Fabia, New Swift, Hyundai Santro.

Well it will be intresting to see polo and Fabia nos post festival season in Jan11.
Jazz is now way above by price difference to Fabia for the petrol version,
Fabia 1.2 TDI will lead the numbers.
Thats what Autocars initial review suggests
As per Skoda now aiming 7 % market share means clocking 2000 nos per month , any thing above 700 will be a bonus _________________ Rgds

Well 2000 would be to optimistic. Actual problem with the 1.2 TDi is that it has same engine as Polo and people are comparing or treating VW as a better / premium brand than Skoda.
Moreover, VW is unable to produce engines in quantity and thus sales are impacting for Polo as well as Fabia. Infact, fault is not at VW’s end as they are also astonished after seeing the volume in India.
I test drove Fabia 1.2 yesterday and might go for it in Jan’11. Right now there is no discount on Fabia (only corp.). |

Hello friends,
The sales figure for November has been little better. It seems the strip down version both on features and price seems to give Skoda some better response.
Fabia --- 970 units
Polo --- 1975 units
Jazz --- 330 units
Punto --- 699 units
Yeti --- 189 units _________________ Currently driving - XUV 5OO, Honda Civic, Skoda Fabia, New Swift, Hyundai Santro.

Uneet,
I checked and found that there is significant drop in sale in other cars. Please see the figures below. It is a good news but it looks like people are shifting from Polo to Fabia as they both carriers same engine. But what could have happened to PUNTO, roughly 50% drop in numbers ??
Cars Oct Nov Difference
Fabia 756 970 214
Polo 2344 1975 -369
Punto 1300 699 -601
Jazz 332 330 -2 |

Any sales figure of 500 plus consitently till march will be a sign that Fabia is here to stay side by side polo.
Will be intresting to see Dec 10 and Jan 11 nos to see if its due to new launch or Skoda has got its act better. _________________ Rgds

It seems that Skoda has got some share of Punto after the re-launch of Fabia but for Polo i think these nos are only for the deliveries that VW was able to make as they still more than 5000 polo booking in their hand.
Therefore it is nothing to do with Fabia getting the Polo share. The only reason can be less waiting period for Fabia against Polo. _________________ Currently driving - XUV 5OO, Honda Civic, Skoda Fabia, New Swift, Hyundai Santro.

Aren't Polo and Fabia using the same manufactuing plant at Aurangabad ? If they are, then why distribution or manufacturing per unit taking more time in Polo rather than Fabia. Polo waiting around 5-6 weeks and Fabia 2-3 weeks.
I still feel whether VW has more orders in hand. Still they are unable to keep the demand of producing more engines to fullfil demand as of now.
A sales person at Delh dealership was saying that petrol cars are more in demand than diesel. Any idea.... |

I think Polo and Fabia are produced in batches. They have yet not started parallel production. Fabia has a lower demand and hence less waiting period.
It is quite possible that petrol model may outsell the diesel sibling in cheaper cars/hatches. Not many people really need a diesel. Plus at the same price you can get more features in a petrol model.
When I was in the market to buy Fabia,1.2 Ambiete cost me 6.9 on road. Tdi classic was 7.5 on road. I found the features of the Amb more attractive.
Statistically around 30% of the vehicals sold are diesel. THe comparative share for hatches will be more skewed in favor of petrol.
I think diesel Fabia is priced high even now. 1.6 Fabia is more VFM. _________________ Robin |

You are right Robin. Fabia diesel still little high on price and the prime reason is less features. People in India or anywhere for that matter, wants more by paying less. Earlier it was featured packed but way beyond budget of many. Thus, people could not afford and now it is some what feature less but still little high on price. Current Ambiente has nothing to offer what previous Ambiente was offering. IMO previous Ambiente was kind of top end version or beyond for many cars.
Any news on mileage in city and high way for petrol version ! |

Off late have seen many newly registerd Fabia zipping in Bangalore.
Most of them petrol variant which have been registerd over the past weeks.
For sure of the 900 plus figures of November Bangalore must be somewhere a the top in those numbers. _________________ Rgds

It has been a revolutionary month for Skoda Fabia and would surelly set the tone for its future here. The figures and the comparisons says it all.
1. FABIA ---- 1853
2. JAZZ ---- 269
3. PUNTO ---- 62
4. FIGO ----- 1881 (Low sales mainly due to no schemes available for the year end)
Still waiting for the POLO nos. _________________ Currently driving - XUV 5OO, Honda Civic, Skoda Fabia, New Swift, Hyundai Santro.

But, mark a point,
We missed some good features, as I got this new model, and compared to the oldies, I found, what previous ambient has, the new elegance has those.
We get it on budget, but missed some unique features... 1st and most is Dance Music sys, rest most is parking sensor.
others are not imp, but sales point goes up with price down, |
