Hi all ,

Fabia petrol is booted out of big cities as it does not conform to BS 4 norms along with Maruti 800 . Maruti 800 was introduced almost 25 years ago whereas as Fabia came to India two years ago !!!

Now the issues. Fabia meets Euro 4 norms in Europe and no problem . In India it does not meet BS 4 which is same as Euro 4 and requires lot of modifications .There are many questions . Did not Skoda know that BS 4 is on the pipeline . Does this mean that skoda has used substandard parts and found an outlet ( Indian Market ) for their stock of unusable parts and is it real reason for introducing the car in India Polo complies with BS 4 and has same or similar engine but just tweaked for more power and less torque at lower speed . Why can not Skoda do the same or why skoda has not done that. . Is it a game plan to pull ot Fabia petrol as it has failed in India miserably.

I think Skoda has taken Indian customers for a solid ride . See the diff between Toyota and Skoda . Toyota chairman is going around apologizing to customers . This shows their humility and how much they care for their customers and how much they are commited to their product . Here in skoda everything is a secret and things are done in a hush hush manner with a view to mislead customers . There is also a rumour that Skoda Fabia will be discontinued shorty .Any views or any one has any inside information ?

To be on safer side you can sell your Fabia and buy a polo.
Some of my friends were not happy to own a polo which is stripped of features compared to Fabia , only inclination towards polo is tuned petrol engine compared to Fabia.

Hi MSBala,

Hope you're doing well. I'm not sure about the Skoda selling outdated parts via sales in our country of BS3 models, but I would have to disagree on your observation of Toyota being committed to it's customers.

You see, in every analysis of the Toyota Recall [which is probably now a case study in several management schools all over the world] had clearly brought out the fact that Toyota has had break problems and safety concerns on their vehicles, mostly sold in US and other world markets, for well over 5 years. Being Japanese, they'd failed to agree so [that their products could be faulty] and went into denial on the same.

The huge [and legal] outcry from Toyota's biggest market, the United States, had pushed Toyota to come out with their skeletons they'd been hiding in the closet and in the beginning, they we even reluctant to say 'Sorry' [I read an article on how difficult it is to Japanese pride, to say Sorry; I lost the link and in fact, just tried to search it out, but no luck]. Only after the findings were published and confirmed by the US law makers and congress, did Toyota's CEO finally make the public apology, almost everywhere.

I would agree to any claims of Toyota caring for their customers, their commitment to quality vehicles and any humility, ONLY if they have corrected their defective process themselves. Not after there were deaths, huge public outcry and being pushed by the US congress, to accept their faults and made to come out and apologize. Far from corrections, the major irking fact is that Toyota did not even want to acknowledge their car parts had issues. Isn't that sad for them to do? There have been about 30+ deaths in Toyota cars that have had these brake/accelerator issues. Is that fair? For Toyota pride, it seems a small figure. Such a shame.

Toyota have lost the respect they used to command, in the markets that matter. India, oblivious to these factory defects of brakes and accelerator issues, will continue to upkeep the talk of Toyota quality and reliability, without a doubt.

In any case, this is just my disagreement [ONLY] of your statement about Toyota, and nothing else. No offense has been meant in my post, so I hope none is received.

Btw, I sincerely hope Skoda Fabia is NOT pulled out of the Indian market. That would mean there would be NO AVENUE to even Re-sell, forget re-sale prices.. lol

aK

Couldn't agree with you more Ajay.

The result : Toyota now faces more than 300 state law-suits in the US.

It is fortunate that Toyota India does not have to deal with these problems. Their preparedness for the Indian market is certainly better than Skoda. But didn't the Fortunner had braking issue too?

Unless there is a major issue in India between VW & Skoda there will be no problem , Fabia will sell side by side with Polo , Engine Spares will still be costly in Diesel than Petrol as except for Engine re-tuning in polo lot of it is commun.

Only one production line is running for polo , thats why the wait period is long , maybe its due to lack of import pipeline , Once Fabia comes with new petrol engine in next 4 months things will brighten up. Like superb compared to Passat , Fabia is loaded more compared to Polo so the premium stays.
How Fabia classic is priced with polo trendline in future will decide the fate of fabia.

How much fall in cost of spares especially plastics and sheetmetal , only time will tell , this again will depend on local content or we pay for Euros plus duty.

VW is not making mistake of Skoda , they are taking feedback after selling polo and propose to add features after June , wish skoda goes the VW way in India or else horror stories will continue especially once warranty comes to end.

Dont worry Bala you are no alone there are 10000 Fabias running on Indian roads.

Guys! SKODA is here to stay and already has a decade old brand following. Withdrawing Fabia appears to be out of Question and shall continue with Polo and shall be on the premium side. Success story of Superb will repeat on Fabia 2011. Devaluation of Euro will help SKODA compete against Dollar linked rivals.
