Hello guyz,

Really glad to hear about lot of people here satisfied with fabia.
I am gonna buy my first new car, and i have decided to go for FABIA.

I have two options.
1. Classic fabia 1.2 htp fabia 5,62,000INR on road (with discount) - BS III
2. Classc fabia facelifted 1.2 petrol coming in september/octomer, but will be around 6,17,000INR with new engine... (possibly without discount) - BS IV

How is the current 1.2 petrol engine ? I heard, it is noisy and have knocking problem in first two gears ?

Go for the 2nd option , you have to wait for 3 months and shell out 50K more.
There is nothing wrong in the current engine in Fabia , except milage is less compared to Polo 1.2 engine .
Dont think apart from this any significant performacne difference will be there apart from better response in 1st Gear for the uplifted Fabia.

I had a chat with Skoda sales guy on this. His take was that the new fabia is not going to have the exact same engine as Polo, but slightly modified than the present (to meet BS IV?). Other than this and the face lift there is no major changes it seems.

Do you think the new fabia will have better mileage? Do you think the price of the new model remaining the same (of course I don't expect the discount to continue) ?

If you are not bothered about the face lift, wouldn't it be a better bargain to go for the current fabia with the discount?

You wont believe, but i was just thinking the same.. i am just highly excited to buy my dream car... i will be taking decision tonight..

I think the new fabia is coming up with polo's engine, that's what i heard, but its just going to be 3 pot only... and current polo is not so much fuel efficient (at least petrol)

Q: should i go for current diesel classic or current petrol classic ?

what else skoda sales man told you ?

I am in touch with two sales man, one says there are many months left for the new fabia, and other is saying, its getting launched on September with yeti.

checkout the following link... it's all real pictures of new fabia Indian version.

http://motoroids.com/news/scoop-2010-skoda-fabia-facelift-india-launch-in-q3-2010.html

let me know what do you think ?

One thing that is sure is that the new engine will be BS 4. Isn't it better?

About the price, it can go any way since the current model doesn't sell in good numbers. Skoda may (not) reduce the price. If Skoda increases the price, it will be the last nail in the coffin.

Choosing between petrol/diesel is totally your call. Diesel is noisy but has its strengths. You can opt for the engine cover to reduce the noise.

Since you have made up your mind to buy anyway (old or new model)You should ask yourself which option will make you more happy. If you are planning to keep the car for many many years, new/old won't really matter esp. for the petrol model. Since the coming diesel engine is a new one, sourcing some parts of the current engine could be a problem later on.

Yea definitely BSIV is good..

If it will have same polo engine.. even by staying BS-IV it will not improve the mileage.. polo is also giving 13kmpl mileage.
My friend, owning 1.2htp classic told me that, his car is giving 12-13kmpl in petrol.

I am sure the new Fabia will be better from most of the aspects, although I still don't know, how much i will have to wait Sad

Go for it then. You shouldn't trade your happiness for few thousands here and there Smile.

I bought my car in july 2008 with no discounts. 5 months later, skoda was giving a good discount/package. I wasn't repenting because in those 5 months I enjoyed the car a lot. Buy the car in this spirit Smile.

If you want Diesel wait for CRDi 1.2 or 1.6.
If its petrol you can go for current Petrol Engine.
Take a call and like Robin said if you wont sell the car for long time just go and buy petrol one.

Hi Jeetz,

Congrats on deciding your car.. Cappuchino beige is beautiful and a very nice color [can hide dirt and dust to an extend], while White takes a looootttttt of effort to maintain. Buut, the benefit is that White looks royal. Projects those lines, shapes and curves very well Wink

If you can maintain the Fab well, my recommendation is white. If cleaning often is painful, go for CB. Either ways, both look awesome.

Good luck mate.

Great Choisonce! Colour surely is very personal but white in Fabia Looks extremely Lively and elegant. Moreover with Twin tone interiors of Black and Silver, White goes very well. Cappucino Beige also is a very unique colour but is slightly dull as compared to Candy White.

Fabia 1.2 HTP is a great engine, probably was discontinued strategically to bring commonality with 1.2L of Polo. But my experince on 1.4TDI PD on Fabia is far superior to Polo 1.2 TDI CR in terms of Peak Tourque starting from 1600RPM in comparison to 2000RPM.

28K is too high , check on your own , should be less than 18-20K.
Dealers get margins on Insurance and Part of EMI , if loan is with bank tie up with dealer Laughing

Dear Fanfabia,

Can you enlighten us on the merits & demerits of 1.4TDI PD engine of Fabia Vs 1.2TDI CR engine of Polo.
