Hello All,

I'm looking to buy an outgoing Fabia 1.4 PD TDI Ambient or Elegance model. How much discount I can expect in Bangalore. Please let me know as I would be going for an discussion today or tomorrow. Also please let me know about the service cost and the availability of spares in the future as its an outgoing model. And I'm planning to keep this model for another 5 to 6 years minimum.

You should expect atkeast 60-90k of discounts. A lot depends on how you bargain.

I would recommend you the new 1.2 crdi, elegance model. The same engine is shared by the Polo too. This should make availabilty of spares beter and cheaper too. Skoda has updated their PD engines with the crdi throughout. It will not be easy to source parts 5 years from now.

The new Fabia has a low feature list but nothing you can't live with. The rear wiper will not be available in the PD model too. They stopped it towards the end.

Thanks a lot for you reply. That makes sense. Because I decided buy car just because I was getting discount on the outgoing model. Now I can easily postpone me buying the car..

How do you feel the new 1.2 TDI compare to the old 1.4 TDI in terms of performance and milage. If you don't consider the engine sound factor.

I have not driven the new car. I haven't driven enough of the 1.4 TDI to make any serious comments.

The general review is that the crdi has a greater turbo lag. The 1.4 TDI has good FE. The Polo with the crdi engine boosts of one of the most efficient engine. Expect Fabia to be close.

Some one more knowledgeable can comment here. Fanfabia, Invinsible?

I had bought 1.4 PD TDi last month dispite of knowing Fabia is facelifting the model n PD will change to CR TDi. After some search, I had concuded that at disc of 90K, 1.4 PD TDi is better option then new one.

PD techolojy is better diesel engine n having good FE, pick up is good. and powerful engine 1422>1198.

It is a tough choice. The discount is tempting no doubt. The PD engine has a better pick up too.

The only concern is the availability of spare parts and its price in the coming years. Skoda was never good in this department. The crdi engine may have an advantage here.

Since he is reasdy to wait, skoda may start offering discounts/freebies on the new model earlier than we think.

I test drove new 1.2 CR couple of weeks back and i did not feel much turbo lag in Fabia however, I felt a little more in Polo (same engine). So in totality, if I have to pick one I would go for Fabia over Polo in same engine league.

PD vs. CR. Well as admin suggested, people should take a wise decision with Skoda for their ASS. They were very bad earlier (as per people comments – different sites / owners) so arranging parts after 5 years down the line would be difficult to say the least. Discounts would come somewhere around Mar’11.

So those who are in hurry should not consider discount right now and buy it or wait and watch for some more months.
