Folks,
Its been some time since i have been around. Have been travelling way too much for my own good and life has been hectic.
I need advice from my comrades here. I am planning to go in for another Fabi. And i want to stick on the Petrol. One coz that's the fuel that all the cars that i have ever owned and driven run on and second i intend to pay for the car entirely from my substantially depleted pocket and at this point in time the 1.2 Petrol Ambiente is the only one that my poor wallet allows.
Regardless of that fact, do you folks believe that i am making the correct choice. My average daily runs would be around the 50 to 55 kms mark once my travel jaunts are over.
Does the new 1.2 Petrol offer better mileage than the older 1.2? i did a quick TD on the new 1.2 Petrol and i thought it felt a little more nippier than my lady. But then it was too short a run to derive anything meaningful from it.
Is there any other car that i should be considering. Don't kick me for asking that question here but atleast for me there does not seem to be anything that comes close to the comfort, ride quality and handling that the Fabi provides.
Folks your expert views and comments please.

I can only expect the new engine to be better than those doing duty in ours, at least in the FE dept. The new engine is doing a good job in Polo too.
The new Ambiente is quite low in the feature list. No ABS of all. But now the same space and comfort can be had for less. Go ahead. _________________ Robin |

As i said in my previous post. Its the depleted pocket and the fact that i dont want to borrow to pick up the car.

Hello Folks,
I got my new Fab this week, thinking the best I got, but one thing I am not satisfied is that the sound of engine, though its a Petrol one, sounds same like a Diesel engine.
Other than this I haven't experienced much. |

May be u r trying a test drive car, which they use for rough drive with no maintenance.
It sounds, but with glass up and ac on, no sound is there, except the road grip due to wide Tyre.
Get some knowledge on this HTP machine not MPI, I googled it.
HTP as by Skoda techy means, is a DI with High Pressure in petrol version. Somewhat is close technique to CRDi/CRD engine.
The most astonishing fact, on the day of delivery, I just checked a new and test TDI 1.2, sounds same as petrol engine.
So till now I am thinking, what this 3rd version got?
As per Skoda, its a refined engine from VW.
Petrol and Diesel sounds different in 2nd and 3rd gear only, other than all are same.
Don't get so confused by my words, better u get in a new car in show room, and ask to start the engine, while u close all openings, and there u check the sounds with a bit forct on Acc. pedal. |

Again, its TDI, not PDI, PDI was old, TDI is new.
Here is a big diversion in topic, I got Petrol-HTP machine, not Diesel-TDI.
I booked/got it in Jamshedpur.
One thing u chk, as u r buying elegance, the book even online manual says it comes with Music Sys with 4 speakers. Ask the delear, what 4 speakers mean, is it 2 front + 2 Rear or 2 Front + 2 tweeters(front).
I am messed up, so need a comment on this, as til now none got this new model, as I can't find in this forum.
Do a cross check and let me know, check speakers by hearing with low sound, opening all doors, as it will be then clearly audible. |

Sorry My mistake, took it to PD engine, sometimes the abbreviation get confused.
I didn't got any demo on delivery, so for I started a topic : "Skoda Dealers' Behaviour".
I got so much trouble in 1st 3 days, and when I asked then through phone, they argued that they did demo bit by bit. As i am 200 kms away from the dealer I can't go to kick their back.
The manuals are available in SKODA uk site, google it. |

There should be a hard copy available with the car?

I got the hard copy, but it is not same what the car has, it is being refereed to the UK model, good messing, added with lots of stuff.
They even don't write a book for Indian (right hand drive). |
