It will require significant courage to go to a non skoda service center even say carnation or bosch .
Depends on risk perception one has , I find even authoized service centers strugging to address issues in Laura & Superb.

Not recommended, friend.

As Pravin says rightly, Skoda themselves go clueless on some issues [like for example, the central locking issue on the other thread].

I can assure Carnations cannot handle or do a good job. I know 2 people who have gone to Carnations and only have terrible things to say about them.

TBHP user experience report[s] on Carnations too don't seem favourable to them.

In Bangalore, wise to stick with Vinayak Cars for Skoda.

Reliable alternatives: Shocked If reliability is in question, you shouldn't go to Skoda themselves. Laughing Sorry, couldn't resist the joke. Smile

Thanks for the "reliable" inputs. . . Wink

I got my first free service done as i was nearing completion of a year. It was done neatly by Vinayak Skoda. ( I had no complaints, except for the central locking one, which i have, posted on a different thread).

At the end of the day, i feel, its really a good car, with no good servicing dealers in India. It is a great car when everything is going good. On the contrary, if something critical goes wrong, many of the repairs are done on a trial and error basis. I've seen many cars in the workshop with unique problems and they have not been able to find the right solution and the car is laying idle at the workshop. Some have not got spare part replacements... and the list goes on. . .

Trial and error is the approach by most. The thing on can do is to close in to the problem him self (research on net, dig in) before taking it to the dealer. Vinayak does good job after that, in most of the cases. I once had a problem with the rotor shield of the of the front brakes. It was hit by a stone and got a dent, resulting in a loud click sound every time I turned the steering. In the first attempt they just cleaned the brakes because they couldn't really reproduce the sound. Second time around I worked closely with them and it worked.

One would think that they are professionals and should be able resolve issues without much fuss. Unfortunately they too have to deal with attrition and poor labor quality etc.

In the end it is the attitude which leaves on impression on us. Some people are really good there, like Prem and few others. On the other hand I have had a couple of frustrating visits too.

This is Baskar regarding service centers other than vinakaya in B"lore. I would recomend United motors in Bangalore they have the most advanced diagonstic kits at their disposal & are rated as the NO.1 multibrand service center by Bosch.

This will work out only for cars like Maruti ,Tata & Hyundai where there are volumes. Issue is getting spares (Engine).
At best they will be good in body repairs and regular servicing like oil /Filter change .
These thoughts are based after we had a project done @ IIM-B on these branded car repair outlets like Carz,Carnation,Bosch etc . Laughing
