[color=blue]Hi folks,
First of all i want to thank the administrator for giving me a quick access to this forum.
All the while i wanted to find out if there was any exclusive forum for Fabia owners and finally i found this one here.
So i wanna start of with my journey with my Black Fabia 1.2 TDI and the experience i had till date.....
Originally, i was narrowing on 3 cars, the Polo (Diesel) , Figo Zxi (Diesel) and I-20 (Diesel)versions.....but then one of my friends who was a car maniac advised me to check the new version of the FABIA 1.2 Diesel, he said it had a new refined engine and also it costs less.....
So i went to check the car, truly was in awe in the first look of the car....
It simply amazes me how skoda loose by not marketing this fabulous car as much it requires........
So finally took a test drive of the vehicle , the pick up, ride quality , handling everything impressed me so much .... but then again wanted to try out the i-20 diesel as well....
I was actually looking for a basic version in i-20 which was the "era" but to my disgust the hyundai fellows told me that in case of era it has to be specially made on order since most of the ppl are bying magna or asta.....that really pissed me off and i said i will go for Fab........
Skoda also were willing to give me a 10000/- corporate discount and the car finally ended up for an onroad price 0f 6L(navi Mumbai).
On the other hand i drove the Ford Figo as well.....was really impressed by the features on the top model (zxi) and also found there was no lag in any gear....but unfortunately i felt it was missing some vrooommmm factor in it....with its ugly 68PS for such a mighty 1.4Ltr Engine......
So finally got my pearl black FAB delivery in 15 days from JMD Auto. ...... .
Its been 7 mnths now i have done 11000Km till tonite.....
Everything went smooth till the 10000th mile when somethin went wrng in my car......suddenly i felt it was underpowered.....and Exhaust system malfunction light appeared on the dashboard......JMD never found out the problem even after 3 weeks....
Finally thought i would approach.....AutoBahn....They responded very professionally and finally found the problem in just 2 days time.....
The fault was because of a crack in the Turbo Hose....Its a connecting hose from the engine exhaust outlet to the turbo.....
They replaced the part in 1 hr time although the part has to be bought all the way from germany......and that took 4 days....
Finally now i am enjoying the FAB Ride again.............
I really love this car for its build quality ............. i enjoy driving it every moment.............
I wanted share my FAB story with all you guys.....
Thanks for giving me an opportunity to tell mystory....
regards,
KSP........... _________________ Pratap |

Hey,
Its actually a Turbo Hose Connection, that is a sort of a pipe joint between engine exhaust and turbo....

Hey I am just back from the service station after replacing the turbo hose in my car (New Fabia 1.2 TDI Feb 2011 model) on warranty! I was thinking about updating this information in this forum but saw this thread
For me it happened in the 9th month (9600 km). It looks the quality of this hose is bad.
The symptoms of turbo hose leakage were -
- sound of air leakage when pressing accelerator
- engine jerking
- lack of engine power
First I thought this was caused due to bad fuel or problem with fuel injector but the service technicians were quick to identify the turbo hose leakage. The part was out of stock and I had to wait for 1 week for sourcing the part and then 1 more day for warranty approval.
I was having a kind of rattling sound from the left side passenger dashboard area from the 3rd month after purchase. This used to come when the RPM is above 1500-1700. It was suspected as loose air pipe and fixed ~6 months back but started reappearing again after 2-3 weeks. I think that rattling and the recent turbo hose defect is related.
The part number for this hose is 6R0145828 and may look like the small hose in this picture,
http://www.forgemotorsport.com/content.asp?inc=product&cat=260310&product=FMKTGOLR
Now the shocking part of the story is price of this rubber like hose - ~Rs 8100! Whatever localization Skoda has done to their cars, prices of items like this remains on the higher side
I appreciate the help and support I got from Vinayak Skoda Bangalore on identifying and fixing the issue in time without much trouble (except for not having this part in stock!). |

Welcome to the forum Pratap!
Exactly the same problem experienced by Pravin. Rats had chewed wires and the hose resulting in malfunction light and sluggish pick-up and . _________________ Robin |

There wasn't any malfunction lights in my case. Rats were an issue for me also but the cracks on the hose didnt look like caused by rats. |

Hi Pratap,
Welcome to the forum. Happy to have you here and also glad that you were able to find this niche forum.
Good to know that you did your research and picked the Fabia over i20 and F Figo [which are also strong performers]. Gives a good indication of what a person is looking for, in a car..
See you around. Have a nice time.

Hi Karan,
I'm also from Jaipur but putting up in Delhi for the Job. I visit Jaipur frequently. I bought 1.6 petrol in Jan 2012 and really enjoyed so far ... |
