Hi Guys,
I am planning to get a new audio system in replacement for the existing 'BEAT' as the old one supports only 2speaker and 2 tweeter, can anyone suggest me a double din touch screen starting range audio system and a pair of speakers and tweeters for the rear doors.

Can anyone guess how much can i expect to get if i sell the 'BEAT' audio system which i got with the car. your suggestions will be helpful in making my decision.

If i could connect another pair of tweeters than i would have not gone with a new Audio system as such, any ideas on this please.

has anyone tried a 2 channel to 4 channel split system : http://www.scosche.com/car-stereo-output-converter

Hi Guys,

I own a skoda fabia and when i bought this car it came with 2 speakers and 2 tweeters in the front, the dealer fixe a JBL CS-6 or CS-5 for the rear doors, though this was fixed the people in the back complained that the sound quality in the back is not upt o the mak but for the sound quality in the front was of top notch.

So i thought why not get a good tweeter fixed for the rear so when i went to JC road in bangalore one of the audio guy pened the system and said this actually support the front speakers and the rear speakers were crimpped and fixed to the exsiting ones which i was shocked, he also said there is no point putting tweeters so now i am thinking about the following and need your help.

1) Exchange the old head unit for some 2 din touch screen system and get a JBL componet speakers for the rear seciton - can anyone direct me on a good head unit, component speaker(model and price) and

a)how much can i expect for the old head unit and JBL speakers my budget for new HU and rear component speakers is about 20K or less,

b) The component speaker usually has a crossover and then a tweeter, so where is the tweeter connected(Where is it usually placed) if i am doing it for the rear of my car.

2) I was going through few sites and came across an amplifier whcih takes a 2 channel input and converts to 4 channel which is also a good idea but wanted to know if any one has tried this out.2 channel to 4 channel split system : http://www.scosche.com/car-stereo-output-converter

The exisiting system is a skoda 'BEAT' audio system, Model : 5JD035152 9B9

Suggestion and welcome and will be of great help for me in deciding.

If you are audiophile - there are 4 pointers to get the best of the music
1-Music Track Qauality - A Flac / Wav will always sound good any time over Mp3
2-Good base music system , with equalizers etc
3-Good quality wiring with Dampners to avoid vibration
4- good set of quality component speakers , Morel will be best , costs more for example then you can go down on wallet to Infinity - JBL etc.
I dont have a amp, I just use the Aux in and the J3 Cowon PMP is the best PMP till date with 32 preset equalizers, dont even use the 2 Din system except for the volume control.
I also use a good quality Bandridge cable connector to connect the PMP to aux-in.
After all combinations I tired , I am quite happy with the output on Infinity Kapa.

Thanks Pravin, I am looking at any standard audio system main reason for changing is that the people in back always complain about less volume and if i increase the volume to a higher extent i find it disturbing to drive.

I have thought about the following system please let me know your thoughts:

http://bangalore.olx.in/skoda-rapid-oem-double-din-music-system-iid-473225876 - From skoda rapid

or else VW - RCD320 someone who upgrades their polo or vento might give it away at throw away price.

You can have good coxials at the back seats , to just fill the sound, I dont think components are recommended here,
If you have a good component at the front then the same make of coaxials will do for the back seats.

Hi Pravin,

I have component speakers fitted by skoda in the front and in the rear there are JBL coaxials which does not have good output reason being that the outputs for these speakers are not coming from the head unit but from the existing speakers wire which were tweaked/crimped. Since the head unit is not supporting(not so sure even skoda service center and at the manufacturing plant) i am planning to look at the unit from Rapid or Laura which i have posted in the above links, do let me know which unit might fit in the Fabia based on your experience, i do not want to go for aftermarket as for 10K i do not think the double din touch head unit might have so good clarity as the OEM's have. Please let me know your thoughts. Question

I might be crazy but I've been dreaming up the Amundsen+ or the Columbus for my car. Have a few bizzaire and potentially risky mods for my Fabia for 2014 and will proceed on them on if technically and financially feasible.

These 2 headunits are stock Skoda and very good ones (mostly sold on Yetis, Lauras and Superbs abroad).

Amundsen+ - http://www.skoda.am/models/HotspotDetail?HotspotName=R03%20-%20Naviga%C4%8Dn%C3%AD%20syst%C3%A9m%20Amundsen%2B%20%5BFabia%2C%20Roomster%2C%20Octavia%2C%20Yeti%2C%20Superb%5D&WebID=c3271b2e-08c3-41f1-a3d4-81a0b009b7c1&Page=technology&view=TechnologyNavigation

Here's how it looks:

The above mentioned HU's are very priced. I was actually planning to look at laura's unit or else the polo/vento's unit RCD-320 which comes with the highline variant, unfortunately no luck in getting hold of a 2nd hand unit also. So deciding if to go for a double din pioneer which costs 14K and has pretty good features.

I think i need to probably wait till you upgrade your head unit so that i can trade your old unit for a good price Very Happy . : Problem with the beat unit is it supports 2 tweeters and 2speakers for front door the rear door speakers connected by the showroom(Vinayak) was crimped with the existing wires and not connected directly to the head unit.. but any ways will get it checked this week while servicing.

Any idea of a good stock unit under your lenses, please let me know and as well your suggestions.

^^ True, they're insanely priced. Used from Uk should be cheaper and they hardly look used. Still, used are also very pricey (i did say this was crazy).

Well, I've zeroed down on this model if I cannot get legitimate used Amundsen+ or Columbus.

Its called Custron and the model is T1070VW1. Product page:
http://www.autodvdgps.com/custron-t1070vw1-oem-factorystyle-dvd-gps-navi-radio-for-vw-polo-bluetooth-handsfree-ipod-phonebook-canbus-p-1455.html

You can see its installation on a Fabia here:
http://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=custron%20t1070vw1&source=web&cd=7&cad=rja&ved=0CEQQtwIwBg&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DqzVRQ4yUjGM&ei=GIjuUa2YEsT4rQfpzoDQDw&usg=AFQjCNErKxWu7leSgxv3_iD8D_GjKKdHOg&bvm=bv.49641647,d.bmk

These are made in China, typically where the Skoda units get made too (so their construction and everything else will look the same).

But higher priced than the ones you've seen on OLX (hardly interesting). Check the Custron out. One time investment.

Other chinese stuff also available for Fabia are here:

I am quite happy with the stock Dance HU , because I dont use it , with the Cowon J3 plugged in Aux-in I only use the Volume controls of HU,
After lot of trial and error method , i am able to get the best of the PMP , after installing Infinity Kapa and invested in a good Bandridge cable to connect the PMP to Aux-in
Its two years since I bought the J3 for 18K and another 16 K for the Kapa and thats it....
With 32 Gb capacity of the J3 and 64 gb micro sd card , I have all the songs in it.

These are good HU but on the costlier side, i was planning for Pioneer unit as it comes with warranty, usually my fate with electronics are not so good. i was planning to go for a basic model or the next model with bluetooth:

http://pioneer-india.in/shop/avh-x1590dvd/ - 14K in JC road, unfortunately our old HU cannot be exchanged. Crying or Very sad

Also though to get a coaxials(HERTZ - 5K) on the rear tray with the existing it self, would that be possible has anyone tried can anyone let me know if i have to change the rear tray it self?? or else should i go for component speakers for the back side also, if yes then where will the tweeters be placed?? in the normal socket of the door or else some where on the roof or rear side of the car? Please advise.

Please do let me know if any one exchanges the old HU.

The Pioneer AVH X2590BT DVD Receiver link you posted is available for 18500. Why would you want to pay 24K for it? You can guess that the components are then not really free..

Given current market preferences and my understanding from the relevant TBHP threads, you can give Blaupunkt a miss. They're better ones to be bought.

JVC looks good and also sounds good. Given my limited knowledge I would rate both JVC and Pio at the same level.. JVC link you posted is also 22500, so why 24K? Also, go for a H/U where you have buttons for volume and on/off that can be felt. You don't want an entirely touch input dependent h/u which has potential to distract when driving.

Also remember, a good install will require door dampening for acoustics, better quality cable and wiring (scosche, etc.) and skilled worker. Plan for these 2 otherwise just upgrading h/u and speakers won't result in magic. Smile

Best thing to do as all audio gurus and sages say, is to give both of them a hearing inside your car with the same set of speakers. Once you narrow down on the headunit, then do the same audition for the speakers..

Keep the forum posted with what you decide.

Sure thanks for the advise Ajay.

Yes you are absolutely right the HU costs about 3K less outside but any ways i need to buy component speaker for the rear door as i decided not to get the speakers installed in the rear parcel tray so the costs might end up to be same.

The component speaker which these guys are giving as part of the package is the JVC CS-VS608 which is 300watts or else the JBL component which is 165W -200Watts.

Anyways if i buy at JC road or here probably the cost difference mighr come upto 500Rs and fitting is free of cost at reliance along with some face panel for the unit.

Need to check for damping do not know what would be the cost.

I am planning to move the old components from the front to the rear and get the new ones fixed to the front need to think on this.

But there are some features which i cannot use or else redundant for fabia such as steering mounted controls Crying or Very sad

I also need to check on the screen resolution and the interface along with the audio quality.

Dont move stock speakers to rear. Install Same company Co-Axials in Rear (JBL in Your case).
Also for Damping I feel you will need two Sheets/layers for each speaker in front.
So cost may be 3.5 K or more

HI Pravin,

I am planning to get JVC as the watts are higher than the one given for JBL, the reliance guys said that JBL is 160W where as JVC 300watts.

I will not move the stock speakers then, only remove the old JBL speakers and get the JVC components.

I am wondering if i need to get damping done, will there a major sound effect inprovement Question

If you are opting for a Sub Wofer then light damping on front speakers will do, If you are not planning a sub wofer as part of set up then proper dampind is required.
I had two layers of approx 5-6 inch X 10 inch rectangular damping sheets on the steel frame of the left and right front doors.
The coaxials at rear will not need any damping as you can adjust the sound using fader
