I spoke to Sai Automobiles, Delhi regarding the engine cover for Fabia.
I was told that though Skoda has started manufacturing engine covers now but we need to order one as they don't have that in stock.
Appox price is Rs. 12000/-

I want to ask you guys, has anyone got this cover fitted in their cars? Has the engine noise reduced considerably?

There are mixed views after fitting the Engine cover in Fabia (check link http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/137199-sound-deadening-jacket/page__st__20__p__1730708__hl__engine%20cover%20Fabia__fromsearch__1#entry1730708 )
12000 is too costly to reduce the noise some what in Fabia Diesel, The tyre noise will stay.
Its nothing but a type of foam

I think this new cover is not just a foam cover rather its a proper mettalic sheet specificaly desgned by Skoda for Fabia to reduce the noise heard in the cabin.
To make sure i have already requested the dealer to arrange for a photograph of the same to have a better idea.
Just in case i get any pic, will surelly post here.

can such a cover not be 'custom' made ? dont think it would be that difficult.

the only catch here is the engine heat buildup if the cover causes any hinderance to the airflow near the engine block.

In my recent acquisition of SKODA FABIA 1.4TDI Elegance, I was able to negotiate this Engine Noise Cover with a thich sponge like padding underneath from Fahrenheit Automobiles. Guys its worth the bet. Engine appears pretty neat with this clothing on and the noise+vibration is greatly muffled on cruising speeds. Now on my idling only, one can make out it is 3 Pot Diesel otherwise for all practical purposes it is a growling powerful engine. SKODA company a feedback, kindly make this part of standard equipment, it will be a great blow to rivals who are negatively publicising the NOISE

Retail Price for this piece of Engine Clothing Quoted by Fahrenheit Automobiles is Rs.14,000.00. However I took it as a part of complete deal while negotiating.

Looks nice and near, inner lining material is foam , what about the outer one , is it ABS plastic or metal sheet.

Boss it appears to be PU, same material out of which Car Body Bumpers are made of. Surely it makes the entire engine appear very neat and tidy besides noise attenuation.

Its available for both , needs to be ordered . For Diesel Vinayaka has quoted 10300 Rs.
Planning to get this when I visit for the 2nd year service.

Should cut down vibrations and noise in that order.

Sure Guys! The one which I have, has TDI ebellished alongwith SKODA Logo. Clearly for HTP there would be another variant. Inherently Diesel Engines owing to High Compression Ratio produce more vibration and subsequent Sound as compared to their counter part Petrol Engines. I beleive there would be a design difference also and for petrol it may be minus the foam like Mat.

I have placed order for Engine cover / sound absorber.
I was told all new Fabia cars are comming with this accessory as a standard factory fitting.
Can any one confirm?
One needs to send the chasis and engine no. to place the order.
Engine cover for Petrol engines cost is more or less same.

Sorry Boss! This is not standard in New Fabias, but I have given a feedback to make it one. My 1.4TDI is April 30 Mfg. from Volkswagen India (P) Limited Chakan Unit and was delivered on 23/05/2010. The only change I have observed that it is minus rear defogger and is BSIV compliant.

Is the cooled Glove box still there? I believe they have removed the A/C vent in the Glove compartment too.
