My Fellow Fabiosi,

2010 will be the year in which SKODA plans and has committed in Auto Expo 2010 that it will bring it's first SUV to India, the Skoda YETI. No abominable snowman this, what with the reviews and critics calling it a niche yet successful vehicle in UK and elsewhere in Europe, where it has been selling for well over 4 months now..

Robin, our admin is smitten by it's looks, capabilities and what not.. I'm not much different in that opinion; here is a capable vehicle I wouldn't shy away from making mine. But it's often the finance that's shying away from me. lol.

Let's see what our forum members think of the Skoda YETI; I'm putting up a poll to see how many of you will buy the car and at what price... This should be an interesting poll, IMO.

Feel free to post your comments and opinions..

I bought the 1.2 Amb for 6.87 lacs. The 1.4 Mpi was 8.1 lacs then.

The UK price for the same models are 10,865 and 12,580 Pounds (on road) respectively.

So 6,87,000/10,865 ~ 63.2
and 8,10,000/12,580 ~ 64.3

The Yeti sells as E,S,SE and Elegance variants in the UK.

On road price of some models are:
S, 1.2 TSI = 14,570; by that logic it should be 14,570*65 ~ INR 9.50lacs
S, 2.0 TDI (110 BHP) = 15,890 ; INR 10.4 lacs
SE, 1.2 TSI = 16000; INR 10.4 lacs
SE, 2.0 TDI (110 BHP) = 17320; INR 11.26 lacs
SE, 2.0 TDI (140 BHP) = 19825; INR 12.9 lacs
ELEGANCE 2.0 TDI (140 BHP) = 21,820 ; INR 14.2 lacs

The last one should be the first one to hit our roads. Based on its price we can safely interpolate the price of the other cheaper variants (i.e if they come to our shore). Of-course we also have to take into account the small car tax exemption that Fabia enjoys. Additionally, Indian Fabias are poorer feature wise, but the Yeti may be Euro spec-ed.

All the variants except E, has driver knee bag too Smile.

Well I dont think Skoda will do a agressive pricing like VW did to polo.
They will be content with low volumes and price it around 14-15 lakhs.
I can buy one Fabia and one polo using this amount .
