Hi Fellow Fabiosi,

I've just gotten back [on Saturday] from a long winded trip to Mumbai. I did not stop to take any pictures [sorry] but can help with the route queries and any such, for anyone planning to take the road to Mumbai. [Of course, Robin is better at this than me, he guided me on the route and that prompted me to drive down].

It was a great trip, great joy driving down, with no discomfort to my parents & wife, or myself. We had a great time up, and down. Bangalore to Mumbai I covered in 15hrs which excludes 2 breaks, of 20 minutes and 36 minutes, respectively. Total distance from my home in Bangy to my destination in Mumbai was 1069kms.

I will come back with more details by tomorrow; I'm still to write something down, remotely close to a travelogue..

Smile

Good to know that you are back in Bangalore. Away from the sultry Mumbai weather Smile. So how was your trip?

Trip was good, but 2 weeks was less for covering the entire of our families; they're everywhere in Mumbai. Yeah, but very happy to be away from the very humid Mumbai, but missing the good times with cousins and family.

Pune was much better with respect to humidity, and evenings were very pleasant.

The car though, which everyone might have suspected, might stop on the highway [with the 1.4 ltr reportedly giving problems, lol] has outlived my expectations and has gained immense respect. I've put it to maximum torture and ripped it apart [max speed of 170km] with all possible combinations, with a/c and without, and such.. It has withstood all abuse, and with a smile.

I'm so glad I got the 1.4 ltr. Hope it lives without a trouble for the life of its ownership.. Fingers crossed. All in account, it was a great trip. So glad we drove down than have taken a train or flight.

Hey Ajay,
What was the average milage you got on your trip.
Touching 170 plus was a breeze in 1.4 mpi.
Were you not tired driving with just 2 breaks.

Hi Pravin,

No I wasn't tired at all, doing the 1000+km drive. And this is not to boast any fitness or capacity; I truly did NOT feel tired, one bit [plus, I'm not fit anyway, lol].

170 was a breeze, yes. But I didn't push it beyond that. I wanted to touch 170 and I did; car is so composed and stable at those speeds. But then, I don't advice pushing the car to such high speeds, until u have a clear line of sight for the next 3 kms at the least, and no vehicles in front of you.

Average mileage, I haven't checked yet. I intend to divide the total kms/petrol consumed; I've noted the kms when I entered bangalore, but haven't checked consumption yet since I'm still running on petrol filled in Belgaum or somewhere. Will let you know once I find..
