Was looking for a best compatible mp3 player for Fabia as I am only using CD and have never tried mp3 player via the Aux in route.
Looking in range of around Rs 8000 , should have good sound quality & battery life.

Any one having tried Cowon J3 ,seems to be better for audio and has better battery life

I have been using a couple of players now ranging from the iRiver, Sansa and the iPod.

As long as your songs are encoded at a high bit rate and the connector cable you use is a good one, they all sound pretty decent on the stock HU.

I have not used the Cowon so cannot comment about it. For me in terms of Audio quality the iRiver beats the other two. Battery life too on the iRiver is excellent. The only thing is that the iriver interface is not as intuitive or easy to use as the iPods.

If possible, in case your friends have some players, try them all out in your car. That i guess would put you in a better position to judge which one suits your tastes more.

All the best.

encoding at a high bit rate and the connector cable is good point.
I have a 4 year old windows 2003 Fujitsu PDA , the output is not great , I tried with different connectors but no good result.
I read reviews in web on Cowon J3 , Its pricy Rs 14500 for 16 GB plus option for SD micro expandable to 16 gb.
Its similiar to IPOD touch without Games and Apps , but has got good revievs if used for Audio /video with battery life (Audio) of 50 hrs under test compared to manufacturers claim of 64 hrs.
Its not made in China like IPOD Very Happy , assembled in Korea.
Will settle on it next month after I have a feel of it.

I use classic IPOD(20GB) to play songs in the car. One thing I heard that if the connector is of good quality(the gold plated aux connector) that should give you the good sound quality.
I don't worry about the battery backup as i carry the simple ipod car charger which i bought through e-bay and its good...
most of the times my car will be full of music Smile

All the best. As Rudy also mentioned use a cable with Gold plated pins. They provide the best quality. I use the same myself, came along with the iRiver. Smile

I know what you mean by the Made in China bit. My first iPod Classic 80 GB was made there and i had picked it up here in India. It conked off after 3 months and i was in the US at that time. Walked into an Apple store and they replaced it for me in 5 mins with a brand new one... this one is made in Indonesia, i think. They also gave me an additional year of warranty to sweeten it.

Its been two years now and is working like a charm.

I use a classic 80GB iPod and also my blackberry phone. I don't use no gold plated connector chord [it's no use unless the aux socket you plug in to, also is a gold connector receiver point], I use a simple aux points connector cable [75 bucks] and it plays music very well.

From my phone, which is what I use everyday/weekends, the music sounds excellent..

I have a COWON D2 and connected to AUX input. Nothing to write about in terms of performance(not bad either). But NOKIA 5235 connected to AUX input sounds good.

Yes. I agree with aK completely. I use my BB too to play music. Have not used a regular cable so cant speak much about the difference.

Cowon J3 32 GB - 18500Rs , Including case, Gold plated Aux in connector and connector to convert analogue Tape backed music , or any other source other than PC to transfer song to J3.
Price will drop later as 32GB is just a month old , 16gb is available since 4 months .
AMOLED screen & Slot for 16gb micro sd is a plus.
