I need help on this one from any of you who have faced this problem.

A couple of days back i had my LHS indicator stop working and on visiting the service center found out that the wire had been cut. This was left to a lil critter with nothing to prove.

Come Saturday, i moved out and found that the horn was't working any more. Straight i headed to the service center again coz even though i am one of those who rarely uses the horn, there are times in life that it becomes an absolute necessity. More so, when some clown decides to park his bike in the middle of the road trying to dig for Mackenna's gold.

Coming back to the horn, when my now friendly service center chaps (i religiously pay them a visit every week) pulled out the black plastic thingy that sits in front of the hooter, we found the place littered with droppings. egg shells and what not. A wonderful buffet table no doubt and the wire bitten straight through. The now nice folks, hosed the place and did the needful to have it blaring like new and me none the happy for wear.

Sunday morning, i take out the car and same problem, no horn. Pulled out the plastic cover and found the place littered again.

I am at a loss for what needs to be done. I don't have place to park anywhere else and there are rodents abounding. My other cars don't face this problem coz they do not have the engine guard that comes along with the Fabia, at least that is what i think.

Guys any suggestions and fast at what has worked or can work.

Thanks mate. Am going through the post. Will surely try out some of the suggestions that i can do personally.

Have you or anyone else by any chance come across someone who has been able to get a wire mesh put in place for the Fabia so as to act as a permanent deterrent. I read on the posts that people have got it done on Indica's etc.

My car is a victim too. I have tried almost everything in the post. Napthalene balls work for small rats. But the bigger ones are very difficult to handle. Rat poison, Rat trap, Kill them. Only option!!

Same problem here. They aint rats but Bandicoots and they are making life miserable for me.

I just went and bought the Mortein Rat kill stuff. Will place it around where the horn is and see if it helps. They are biting through the wires everyday.

Anybody know if a wire mesh can be fitted into places where the infernal creature makes its way through.

I will tell my Landlord about it. Though the only thing that he has ever kept and i believe will ever keep is a tiny goldfish. Not much luck in fighting a Bandicoot with that one.

An update to my Rodent problem. I bought a pack of Naphthalene balls and put them just next to the horn. The next day the horn worked. The day after that it did not and i found that the pack had been pulled away towards the other side and the wires chewed through again.

My patience had run out by now and i did the following;

1. Got Mortein Rat Kill and placed pieces of it on the ground near the possible access points to the engine bay.

2. Put another pack of Naphthalene Balls and tied it to see if that would keep it in place for some time longer than the last one.

3. Parked my car in the opposite direction to which i always used to leave it.

I dont know which step worked but its been more than a week now and my horn still works. The Rat kill pieces were not to be seen the next morning after i placed them but i have not seen a dead Bandicoot as yet.

So keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that my run of good fortune continues. Smile

Try http://www.orangecare.in
and under Motor Care -it says the product for engine assembly protection.

The treatment restores metal, aluminium, plastic and rubber parts as new.
Resists high temperatures in the engine compartment without loss of effect.
Forms a resilient, water and damp-repellent film.
Protects electrical connections against oxidation.
Contains no silicone.
A little goes a long way: environmentally friendly.
Does not yellow with age.
Protects also against corrosion.
