It will be great if someone comes up with the pros and cons when comparing both 1.4tdi and 1.2

I am not technically sound here. Some points still...

1.4 Tdi is last of the PD engines sold here. You won't see anymore of the PD engines.

1.4 Tdi is noisy. 1.2 crdi should be better here.

1.4 has less tourbo lag. It should be better driving around in the city. 1.2 has significant tourbo lag below 2000rpm.

Since 1.2 crdi is sold in Polos also. Spares could be better priced. Availability should be better too.

Both are fuel efficient, 1.2 may have a slight edge though.

Thanks Samir Sahib for giving me the honour to express my views on the new 1.2TSI and 1.2TDI. Following are some of my thoughts on the subject.
1) The switch over of Fabia from 1.2HTP & 1.4TDI(PD) to 1.2TSI & 1.2TDI(CR) is more tactical than technical upgradation.

2)Now engines across VW Polo and SKODA Fabia are same, hence advantage of aggregate buying and better volumes to negotiate purchases.

3)1.2TSI petrol may some what be a replica of 1.2 HTP with probably no perceptible driving difference. But with 1.2TDI(CR) you get more turbo lag in bargain for less Noise as compared to 1.4 TDI (PD).

4)The perceptible difference in New Fabia as compared to the erstwhile will be the Power Steering. In light of cost cutting now the PS is fully elctronic like the Polo and may not feel as stable on high speeds as the older Hydraulic.

5)With other cosmetic trims e.g. rear wiper and defogger, cool glove box, passanger side Air Bag, Projector Lamps, Driver arm rest etc. Skoda has been able to bring a price tag more market friendly.

6)However I still feel the older Fabia elegance with discounts was a better buy.[/list]

A small correction here. The new Petrol engine is not a TSI. It is still a tweaked HTP. TSI hardware is going to be way too expensive for our market.
