|
|
Hi all,
Please help me with your inputs. When i got the fabia delivered, the central locking system used to lock(Both from inside and outside) once the car attains certain speed. And, on stopping, the driver had to unlock using the unlock button. But after somedays, i noticed that even though the car attains certain speed, the door doesn get locked from inside, but only from outside. This is dangerous if you are travelling with small kids. I checked with Vinak Skoda and they are clueless on how to fix it.
It would be great if people over here give some inputs about this funcionality in your car. I bought Fabia in Feb 2011.
Regards,
Sandeep. |

Hi,
I too am a newbie here and also a very very new Fabia owner, but from what I know is There are NO Physically visible locks on new Fabia (I've only seen Ambiente and own Elegance) The Locks are just audible and there's an Lock/Unlock button Just near the Gear Change Lever.
This you know.... But There is NO way for you to "Lock persay" our Fabia, when we try to open the doors from Inside. For Front seats The doors WILL GET UNLOCKED the first time door open handle is pulled.
For Rear Doors there are Child Lock that can be activated but are inconvinent for Adults. If Not activated / turned on then Rear doors too open in the first go... I know Even I think this is more Dangerous than safe...
This as per the dealer is "a passenger emergency exit safety feature"
Hence I am not sure if anything can be done about this....
Forum members please correct me If I am wrong.... Cause I too would like to get the Old Pull once to unlock and Pull twice to Open Feature.. _________________ anjanaya_at_gmail_dot_com |

I guess this can be handled by the software. According to the old manual, there are lots of combinations to play around with. _________________ Robin |

@Robin:
Are you sure? cause I had an Issue with Rear Left Power window, which was not closing with one flick of the button.
The Engineer at Europa Auto Brought the VAS Software Laptop and reset the windows settings when I asked him to ad the Old funtionality of one pull unlock and second pull open and he said he shall have a look.
I was looking over & He did uninstall the Door Locking Then Install it and then Activate it.. But the door locks still work the same, Pull once and doors Unlock & Open at once..
APologies , did not thave the presence of mind to take photos...
EDIT: Correct spelling mistake _________________ anjanaya_at_gmail_dot_com |

Write to Skoda and see what they have to say, do mention the safety angle. Does the manual say anything on this? If it does , then the software should have provision, may not be available with the dealers though. _________________ Robin |

Actually, i cross checked with the Dealer and he says it is the norms specified by the RTO, that, in case of an accident, the persons inside should be able to come out easily. Well, i dont know how it can be a safety norm. Because, when centrally locked, all the doors lock from outside and they can still be opened from inside. Who will open the doors from outside when the car is moving? Explanation looks so silly....
Skoda are the best ppl to answer this question. Because, the dealers . . most of the time have only partial info.

I think there was a post earlier in this forum and the new models have the option of unlocking in a single pull/click unlike the older models. _________________ Rgds
