Hi,
I was reading few posts and saw many people stating that wheel balancing is overpriced or overcharged at skoda dealers, so just wanted to check if it is safe to do wheel balancing from an outside vendor for a car having stock skoda ALLOY wheels: Why i got this doubt is, recently i was cleaning my car and i just removed one of the wheels as i was not able to remove the carbon remains by standard cleaning, inside the alloys i saw few extra pieces of metal which i suppose are the weights used for wheel balancing where as in my previous car which had normal rims(Aluminium ones) had some kind of different looking weights(Silver colour weight) which was afixed outside part of the rim(visible to people). Can anyone highlight me more about this?
Appreciate the help. |

Hi,
I don't understand what your primary query is but yes, the weights that I have on my Skoda standard alloy wheels also have the aluminium weights [from the wheel balancing effort].
This type of weights is standard irrespective of where you get the wheels balanced. Correct me if I'm wrong, mates.
I hope this is what you wanted to clarify?
Cheers,

Never really bothered to look so close. Does it make any difference if they both weigh the same? They are thrown away anyway the next time balancing is done. _________________ Robin |
