Hi Guys,

My friend is getting two different deals on Fabia from two different dealers in Delhi.

1. Black Apr'2008 Elegance - 44000kms run at Rs. 4,25,000/-.
2. Silver Mar'2008 Ambiente - 23000kms run at Rs. 3,50,000/-.

a) What do you suggest pricewise looks better at inititial stage ? How to take discussion on discounts further ?
b) What all needs to be checked during the inspection of these two cars ? VERY IMPORTANT
c) From where he can get a copy of service details of these cars (if owner says he does not have or lost somewhere) ?

Thanks

Do you have any other details?

Are the cars single owner-driver?

What is the condition of the tyres?

Has the dealer provided you with the service log of the cars?

Please make a judgement based on these parameters.

Other important ones are: accidental repairs must not have been done to the car/s, paint condition, engine leakages, battery condition, interior condition, specially the mats/carpet.

In today's traffic and road conditions, it's quite possible to say that injuries to the car bodies and accidents are unavoidable. I say this from personal experience. I've had 2 accidents last year where I wasn't the cause for the accident, but nevertheless my car's body sustained damages. I don't like to keep my car in a bad looking condition, so I went and got the damages fixed.

What is important is that the owner divulges accidents that have happened on the car and the resultant body work is also recorded in service records/invoices [both at customer end and verifiable at service center[s].

Just my bit..

Also, it is important to check for rusting and damages to iron/steel components inside engine bay and under chassis.. Shock absorbers must also be checked. Best to have a comprehensive check done at a Skoda service center.

I should have elaborated it firsthand.

In Delhi, one can't avoid scratches, dings and dents. I too have them on both my cars.

By accidental repairs, I meant to say that the car/s must not have been involved in any accident that might have caused some structural/integral issues with the car.

For the rusting issues, I suppose with Skoda's quality, and age of car, with no major rains during these three years (2008 to 2011) (practically three rainy seasons) don't bring rusting to the fore. So, a non-issue for me. Nevertheless, a thing to look for, although I would like to add that the overall condition of the car would speak for itself.
