Hi All,
I'm planning to get the Sun Control Film done, as summer started knocking in North...
Any advise would be appreciated.
I pinned down to either 3M's CR 70 or V-Kool's V-Kool-70.

My Plan is V-Kool 70 (70% visibility) front and rear as this is double the cost of 3M (same quality). And rest 3M CR 70 (70% visibility).
Until I receive helpful advice.

Okay - now it's time for removal of our sun films
In Bangalore the traffic police has setup free sunfilm removal camps in 10 centers in various parts of the city. But I hear from others that they are not doing it very professionally and its a long queue to get it removed.
The accessory shops have started to collect anywhere between 400-700 for removal and cleaning the glass.
Any DIY tips from fabia owners for removing the films?

I have removed it from my wife's 800. Removing the film is easy. Take a blade and gently start peeling from a corner. Once you have enough to hold, start pulling the film by applying uniform force along the already peeled part of the film. Try to bring it down as one piece.
The difficult part is removing the glue from the glass. Mr. Muscle works but you will have to work your muscles . Same with detergent water. Try not to use rough scrubber, it may scratch the glass. We had used the scotch brite scrubber (the rough side) and I can see many scratches. But my wife doesn't care . We have just worked with the front windows, got bored and left the others.
I have yet to remove it from the Fabia. Pravin tried it and it seems removing from the windshield is a bit more complicated. _________________ Robin |

Nail polish remover works to remove the gum , tedious using a cotton wool and nail polish remover, plan to use a credit card for scrapping and see if its quick and less painful.
The trouble some part in windows is to remove gum at the lower bottom end , difficult top access to remove the gum here. better to let the filim stay inside rather than peel from top to bottom. _________________ Rgds

Finally i removed the sunfilms on my fabia myself. Took more time for the first two glasses as I was giving more time after spraying colin. But later I realized it doesnt make much difference (at least in my case) and peeled off the remaining films very quickly. It came off without any difficulty. The glue remained in some small parts of the glass. Nail polish remover helped to clean the glue even though it was bit difficult. |
