I had some interesting experience which I want to share with you all. Recently I found on the bonnet and bumper some marks which looked like oil marks .I tried several standard methods like shampoo wash, normal pressure cleaning etc but the stains will not go. I showed it to an expert in painting who said these are due to some acidic matter from flowers. And these acidic matter penetrate through the lacquer as the car does not have Teflon coating . Yes I do park my car under shade in clubs or below a neem tree in front of my house.

After many unsuccessful attempts to remove the stains the paint expert came out with a solution of scraping with a 2000 grade paper. Yes the marks did go. However the lacquer also vanished. The solution was to re - lacquer after scrapping all the marks and give a coat of polish.

The local paint expert who is a consultant gave an estimate of Rs 2000 . Cost of lacquer 900 rest labour. but TAFE quoted 7000 .This is how TAFE rips customers .

Second issue is TAFE did not deliver what they promised . They told me that they have given gratis Teflon quoting along with other freebies . In actual fact they never did that and duped me. If they had kept up their word perhaps this problem would not have happened.

Would like views and comments for the benefit of all Fabiosis. Any one buying any car from TAFE please take in writing all promises . It will come in handy oneday.

I bought my car from Tafe. Duping customers on the pretext of teflon coating is a common practice which many dealers resort to. Most of the time it is just a polishing work passed as teflon coating. I guess regular application of hard wax should have worked. It is a good workout too Smile .

Anyhow, I don't go to Tafe anymore. I find Vinayak better. I have met a few Octavia customers who were fed up with Tafe and now go to Vinayak. But I don't think there will be any difference in this case.

Regular wax polishing did not yield any result .Even TAFE tried it . And acidic matter had penerated through the lacquer but had not affected the paint and that is why re- lacquering had been proposed .TAFE anyways stinks .

I meant that you could avoid the damage by applying hard wax regularly instead of teflon (which i guess wash a mere eye wash by the dealer).
