Which is most suitable fuel grade for Fabia Diesel & Petrol ,
Ordinary Diesel & Petrol VS Premium Diesel & Petro at PSU pumps VS Shell Diesel & Petro

There us a 10 % improvement in milage when I used fuel from Shell.
What are after effects of using premium Fuels or Shell Fuels.

I would choose between Ordinary or Shell, will rule out premium any day. the additives in the Premium sometimes create problems in the engine.

Last week a Maruti guy also suggested Ordinary or Shell for swift, esp. Shell as it's price is normal now and the fuel is good. He was against Premium.

I am using the the premium from the day 1 and that is what suggested by the dealer....

Its been more than 8 months now me using the premium, will there be any harm on the engine side? Will there be any effect on shifting to normal?

Any specific advantage in using Shell regular or disadvantage against Shell Premium and its effect on Engine wear.

I am using normal diesel only from day one. and quite happy with it. I heard some horror stories online that BMW guys declined warranty on fuel pump because premium fuel was used so, never thought of premium fuels after it.

Only change I made was earlier I used to fill at IOC, now its Shell.

Fuel:
I would recommend normal petrol and diesel to be used from a good petrol pump - meaning adulteration should be less.

Diesel:
This is adulterated with Kerosene which makes diesel blue in color. The Diesel would become blue in color if it is adulterated with Kerosene meant for PDC, which makes it easy to be recognized. In order to avert this bleach is added to diesel. This results in *ACID* formation in combustion chamber--- need not explain further the extent of damage. With the FABIA fuel system (Pumpe-duse - pump Nozzle) repairs might be expensive. Avoid filling diesel from *just* any pump, especially on the highway. Remember that Fuel System warranty claim is given only when it is ascertained that you are using specified fuel.

Further the Diesel is hygroscopic, meaning that it absorbs moisture from air. This increases water content in diesel. Though the engine has water fuel seperator (i beleive so) it is usually good *not* to fill fuel tank to *FULL* mark if you do not intend to use up the diesel for a long time.

Petrol:
This too is usually adulterated with Kerosene. However it is easy to recognize as PURE petrol is red(light) in colour. This too has a variety of adulterants including water. However since the petrol fuel system is relatively simpler, losses are less.

Summary advise:
1. Use Petrol/Diesel preferably from a company owned pump.
2. ASK for a specific gravity check.
3. Insist on a bill (if you suspect adulteration)
4. Try to always fill from the same pump. In that case if any adulterated fuel is given you *may* be able to notice and feel it while driving

Brands:
SHELL: I have heard from MANY of my colleagues that SHELL gives better mileage. However please note that this may also be due to the fact that quality controls are better at SHELL and the volume measurement is accurate at SHELL.

BTW: My dealer advised me to use non-premium fuel (petrol).
(While working for a renowned Japanese Car maker, we used to advise Plain Diesel from a good Pump.)
