After a hectic September I was aching to go out for a trip. Last weekend being a long one set the stage for it. Completed of all the necessary work on Thursday so that it doesn't haunt me during the outing. The plan was to go to Chikmaglur on Friday and be back by Saturday.

We left our place at 6.00 AM, half an hour behind schedule. Picked up a couple form Banergatta road and proceded towards the Nice road. The Nice road from Banergatta end to the Tumkur road is free of diversions now. It is a lovely stretch and a constant speed of 80-90 kmph is cake walk. Unfortunately it ends after 35 kms. From Neelmangla our route was the NH 48 till Hasan. Decent surface but pretty rough near Bangalore.
The route of the trip was:
Bangalore -> Hasan -> Belur -> Chikmaglur -> Birur -> Tumkur -> Bangalore.

We reached chikmaglur at 3 PM and had lunch in a restaurant which looked okay but served a baby cockroach in my roti. You see, it makes life difficult for a vegetarian Very Happy . Our night halt was in a budget hotel (wrong decision again, but we just had to spend a night). Fed up with the lack of good restaurants, we landed at Taj Hotel, the Buffet was a live saver. I ate like a hungry bear Smile. But the evening was well spent at a hill top 18 kms from Chikmaglur.

Next day we set out for Kemmungundi, 45 kms from Chikmaglur. The road was through Bhadra forest area. Pathetic roads meant spending 4 hrs in covering those 45 kms, cutting short the trip. From here we left straight for Bangalore.

I'll let the pictures do the talking for the rest.

Had been to Agumbe last week. This is one of the "MUST SEE" places in karnataka. Agumbe is the place to witness the beauty of sun and its colour variations during the sunset and sunrise... inspite of clouds we could seethe beauty (best time is in the month of Dec, jan, feb during full moon)
The place we stayed in Agumbe is called Doddamaney the only decent accommodation you find there. This house is featured in famous serial "Malgudi Days" (Sweet stall). We had a nice experience, we felt as if we had gone to our Ajji maney (Grand ma's home). Every one in the home makes us feel like we know them for years.... Kasturi Ajji is the second eldest person in the home who is the reason for this kind of facilities.

here are some photos of Agumbe

Entering in to the Forest with out any precautions (Agumbe forest is a habitat for king cobra and Naxalites). A 3.5 KM of trekking to reach the view point of south canara forest.

view is superb, dense forest trees covered all over the hills and its vast, its all trees as far as you can see

Last but not least my mile cruncher "Skoda Fabia" crossed 10,000 KMs Smile
