Guys
The manual says that capacity engine oil for 1.2 HTP is 3.2 litres. But we have all (always) been charged for ~ 4 litres. I think we need to clarify this from Skoda.

Shocked Shocked
Seriously ? Damn !
One more loot policy. Why didnt anyone look at something like this so basic so far. If true, its almost like a stupid stealing scam which no one has questioned yet.
.8 lts is equivalent to almost 800 bucks !

I am yet to clarify this from Skoda (I am stuck with loads and loads of work).
Someone who is not so burdened these days may take charge. But first validate from the manual.

This is in the manual:
1.2 l/51 KW - engine oil capacity with oil filter change - 3.0 liter
1.4 l/63 KW - engine oil capacity with oil filter change - 3.2 liter
1.4 ltr./51 KW - engine oil capacity with oil filter change - 3.8 liter

For 1.4 TDi, they charge for 3.8 - 4.0 liters. That is ok. But where is the additional 1 liter going in the 1.2 engine? Same for the 1.4 Mpi.
It seems they are charging everybody for same amount.

More than oil change (Quantity) we dont know what (Quality) type or variant of shell oil they use.
Like I remember I was charged 500 Per litre compared to others shelling out 800 Per litre.
Are they using synthetic oil or blend of synthetic + Mineral oil.
God knows.

they are supposed to be using shell helix ultra, however the price of the engine oil for diesel is lesser than the one for the petrol variant.

sad we didnt read the manual carefully and check the bill for the extra oil shown. i was charged for 4liters. the dealer pocketed 1 litre out of it Evil or Very Mad

I got a reply from Skoda. According to them it is 3.8 liters. They have not yet explained why it is mentioned as 3.0 liters in the manual. I have posted this in Facebook also.

Today I got my copy of ACI. This edition has spare part prices for all the models. I was surprised to see the drastic drop in Fabia's spare prices.

The air, oil and fuel filters are priced at 295, 108 and 456 respectively. I still can't believe it. I paid 1500 for wiper blades last week, according to ACI it is 496.

WoW !
It might be a good idea to call up the service center and enquire about some of these prices and see if they are accurate.

If yes - huge relief Smile

Mr. Jig [I like that name Wink],

I got a copy of this month's ACI too. I will post the image if the spare price costs [of both Petrol and Diesel] by noon of tomorrow. Hope that is ok.

Cheers

Today I finally got a reply from Skoda India on facebook. According to him/her it should be what is mentioned in the owner's manual. Which is 2.9 liters (I have 3 versions of the manual, 2 softcopy and a hardcopy and it varies from 2.8 to 3.0).

For the 1.4 Mpi it is 3.2 liters.
@Ajay - you need not worry for atleast 2 more years Smile.

I think VAS scan is free in a free service.
No oil and fuel filter change?
You paid 1013 for wheel alignment/balancing and weights. That is very espensive.

It got a call today. According to what I understand, the figures in the manual are for the minimum level. So the actual level may change from car to car. So if you want to save some money, haggle Smile.

Hi Jigbarai,

Sorry I failed to post the picture of the spare parts price list; I've been coming down with [not yet fully engaged] fever and got straight to office in a short while from waking up.. I didn't really have the time to do the needful.

I'll give it a try tomorrow if I feel alright. Please allow me sometime [unless Robin already does it before I do].

Sorry. Cheers

thanks much sir. you saved me a 100 bucks )

it is quite viewable. even from windows mobile !

good to see the cost % coming close to the swifts..

one of the 'red' items is the side mirror assembly ! lol ..

they should've made the clutch package more cheaper. its still quite a scary/costly affair..
