Cool. Hope they do a good job and not rob you off too much money either..

Please could you ask them cost involved in cleaning EGR valve and exhaust manifold on the 1.4 petrol. Thanks.

Fabia 1.2 TDi Elegance 3rd year/45000 km service (Mfg: Mar 2011)

Note: Engine oil is 5w30 grade (Castrol Edge professional) which is approx Rs 300-350 more than the usual one that they use by default.

Spare parts prices were lesser than what was shown in skoda web site but the labour charges included some unwanted items.

I remember for 2nd service in 2010 I paid Rs 400 for oil, last service in Feb 13 it was 850 or so, And now 1200 per liter of Oil is quite a big hit.
I have covered 8500 kms and now have to plan when to change the oil Embarassed

The engine oil price hasn't changed much (should be in Rs 850-950 range) but I opted for a different grade oil that is more costly that is the recommended oil as per the skoda fabia handbook. Please refer the thread "Skoda / VW Group Engine Oils" on tbhph for details.

Note: Forgot to mention that there is a service camp going on for some of the 2011 Fabia's whose front seat frame were not painted properly and was getting rust. They are replacing the seat frames with new ones free of cost but you will have to keep the car in service center for 2 days. Please call them up and verify if this is applicable for your VIN number. You can also check right hand side of the front passenger seat frame under the seat for corrosion.

Oh, Rs 850 to Rs 900 per liter is OK, either way I change oil between 8000 to 9000 kms.
Best is to buy shell Helix Ultra 4 liter can and refil from some other service center , even that costs over 1300 per Liter.

Pravin.

Did you get your a/c checked man? Kaunsa a/c service center did you visit? Details may help me/others too..

Jayblor, in this paid service, 1500+ has only gone in VAT and taxes. (SAD) Rolling Eyes

What is the regular Castrol oil they were going to use, until you asked them to upgrade to your preferred grade?

Btw, you should plan for the next meet in B'lore. Are you available around afternoon on the 17th/18th Aug?

Pravin bhai, how about you?

5 Years and 55000 Kms after the 6th Service For Fabia Diesel was heavy on wallet to the tune of Rs 53000/=

Apart from Filters and Oil Change , had to replace the Oil Pump, Water Pump and Timing Kit (Preventive Maintenance).
Oil Pump 8913
Tensioner Chain 1825
Drive Chain 2612
Repair Kit For Tooth 6232
Water Pump 8508
Sealing Paste 3522
Total 31612

Labour
Oil Pump , Tesnioner Pad replacement 2120
Timing Kit Replacement 1880
Oil Sump R/R 800
Water Pump Replacement 800
Throttle Body Cleaning 600
Total 6200

Filters , Oil, Coolant were around 6300 and Rest Labour 2900

Total Bill 46851

Plus VAT 5450 & Service Tax 1115

So Sums up to 53000/=

What has been postponed till next service

Replacement of Front Brake pads after another 5000kms needs replacement another 4000/= goes
Rear Shocks another 22000/= needs to be budgeted
and another mysterious figure waiting for Alternator Pulley or so.
So next 6 months I need to plan another 35 K plus Battery is now down 50 % so can make me poorer by another Rs 9000

So after spending so much this 5 year old Fabia will stay for another 3 to 4 years
Laughing

I had got the Exhaust Manifold cleaned durring last service , so in this time there was not much carbon while the Throttle body was cleaned.

Oil Pump replacement was a shocker, I need to check the old pump how much play is there , as it was replace because of more Noise comming from Engine , need to check after some running the difference post changing Oil Pump & Water Pump.
Probably our Guru Robin who is undergoing coaching classes can throw some light on the circumstances to replace oil pump apart from reason -Noise in the Valve-Train or Noisy Oil Pump.

First Two yearly service labor is free, this does not include summer or monsoon camps.
Check your bill , engine oil should be 3200 , rest should be air, oil & pollen filters

Hi Pravin,

Here is the copy of the bill, can you let me know if this is right.

2011August Model Fabia 2 Petrol

Also i checked with AE he said 2nd service is not free service it is a paid one.
The skoda service cost calculator also shows a labor charge of 1.8K for 2nd service. Probably things have changed Question

http://www.skoda-auto.co.in/Service-Cost-Calculator#skodaservice

Also if you check the Air Filter which Jayblor has posted the part numbers are the same but the prices are different.

May be they have changed to only 1st year free service (Labor).
I checked old bills paid, I was not charged Labor for the 2nd service, had also done a summer camp prior to that which was complimentry.

Its a nightmare with the high charges both in Labor and spares along with well known Skoda service issues.
Welcome to Skoda Family....

One point to watch out for, most of the running spares (filters, brakepads etc) are all made in China and Skoda is doing well in China , but still the spares costs are quite high.

Compared to other hatchbacks maintainance is on higher side thats what I feel and this hits wallet only after 5 years , and the horrible roads on bangalore are only going to increase issues going forward.
So no option here.
