Cool Glove Box is definitely there in Elegance (which is the one I have), not sure about other trims. I was reading somewhere that lid of the Glove Box was spring loaded in the initial Fabia and would gradually open on releasing the lock? Also I would like to know whether Two Tail Exhaust Pipe ever came in Fabia? Because I saw one other day in Delhi having Registeration Number of 2008 and TDI having two exhaust pipes like the Octavia. On checking mine it is single and not visible from a distance e.g from a car trailing behind!

Dear All,

Engine noise cover is available in Mumbai at Autobahn Ent. for Rs.6000/- incl. of taxes.
I had been to their service center & checked it myself as it was available with them. Planning to get it fitted in my car soon.

Regards

Samir

please cross check , the above quote includes Engine cover or Engine cover plus sound absorber (PU Foam lining).
I was given a qoute of rs. 5872 for engine cover without the sound absorber.
Can you confirm if the quote given to you includes the complete unit or just the cover.

The total unit costs 10200 Rs as per Vinayaka Motors Bangalore

Gents: I would love an update especially whether this is sold and fitted by TAFE in Bangalore. If it only costs Rs 5 K, I'm in line for one.

Finally got the Engine cover fitted on the Engine,
It has a thick high quality plastic material with a layer of Foam stuck on the inside.
This costs 5800/=
The seperate additional sound absorber/Foam material which is wrapped on the top of engine first , then the engine cover is assembled on it which is held by 2 plastic studs.
Total cost is 10256/=
Fitting charges were waived Smile , takes 2 minutes to assemble.
Intital thoughts on driving with the cover , I find the vibrations/Sound are down to a large extent in the 5th Gear especially when you are cruising at a constant speed.

For city driving I dont see much difference. But its good for long drives if you are cruising at a maintaning constant revs / speed.
Now I am able to hear some tire noise Laughing which was not there before the cover.

anyone else got this engine cover fitted recently ? wondering if the prices have gone down for this 'spare part' or not (along with other ones)

@ orionph05 - how is your feedback now ? anything good / bad / otherwise you want to report ..

wondering if it is worth spending 5k on this (or get a better speaker set for the rear to kill the sound Wink

Earlier when I used to park my Fabia in my house the noise was audible in the 1st floor where I stay. Now its only by the reverse horn which identifies that car has arrived.
Noise is greatly reduced when in 4th & 5th gear.
Vibrations are also down , especially when starting and swithcing off engine.
Its cost is 10000 plus not 5000.
5000 is only for the plastic engine cover. The sponge / Foam below the plastic cover is the sound absorber which is the actual noise and vibration dampner.
The noise flows down and not upwards inside the car cabin.
This is standard in Octavia / Laura & Jetta.

Hi,

I got the engine cover + foam sheet fitted on my 1.4TDI yesterday from Autobahn Ent. Mumbai, for Rs.10,451/-(labour charges waived).

My observation is that the engine noise is not reduced but seems to be fine tuned.
