How much has been your total expense till date for the car services?
Let us evaluate the cost comparing to other diesel cars in the same category. |
It is roughly Rs 23k for 31000 kms. It includes 3 service, brake pads, coolant change and some misc.
Roughly 75 paisa per KM.
It does not include sun film and rear speakers. _________________ Robin |

Stop going to Tafe,
Vianayaka charged me Rs 80 for changing the front wipers.
So when I went to replace the horn they charged me Rs 80 for the same.
I bought a rear wiper and fixed it last week , not a big deal , Rs 80 for a 30 seconds job is too high. _________________ Rgds

Hi Guys
Getting delivery of my Fab in 2-3 days. Payment has been already done and registration process just started.
I havent been able to get any reduction in any price anywhere (jncluding depot handling charges of 4k). however the dealer has agreed to fit the accessories for me even if i dont get it from him.
I plan to get rear speakers and rear parking sensors fitted. The dealer has said that their listed accessory is JBL GT5 S265. My doubt is that I read that the impedance is 4 ohms for these speakers, so will they work fine with the standard HU or do I need to shell out more for an amp.
A quick response will be great!! _________________ cheers

Hi All
Finally went to Shreenath Car Accessories at Milan subway. Rates were the best I could garner. Bought JBL GT5 S265 rear co-axial spkrs for 2.4k (compared to 4.5k being charged by the dealer) and Xenos reverse parking sensor with LED display (not with clipon mirror) for 2.8k (dealer was quoting arnd 2.8k extra).
Hope this helps somebody _________________ cheers

Oil Filter Element Rs 587
Oil Change Shell Helix Diesel 3.5 Litres @ Rs 595 Per/ltr = Rs 2081/=
Engine Lackering Rs 600
Total amount paid Rs 6221/=
The filter rates almost match with the rates in the autocar magazine , so prices have come down
From now on at mercy at skoda , only ray of hope cost of spares are down to certain extent compared to last year |
Paid Third service done - no more free services now on-
Air Filter Element with Rs 325
Fuel Filter Rs 860
Pollen Filter Element Rs 627 up Rs 30
Oil Filter Element Rs 860 up Rs 280
ORing Seal Rs 26
Cover strip (front) with Skoda emblem Rs 1550

There was a leak in the AC refr gas , which was not detected 4 months back when I just topped up the gas , this time I was told O Ring Seal is the culprit , so got it changed.
So off now to some cautious drivng after seeing some accident cases @ service station , owners struggling to get the car in shape and also getting settlement from insurers. _________________ Rgds

Its the front plastic chrome with Skoda logo over the front grill.
At Yelehanka signal one stationary Innova hit when he accidently removed handbrake , so there was a dent in the plastic chrome strip with a crack , now the car looks new from the front with a new skoda logo.
The strip costs 1500 plus , only logo around 800 bucks. _________________ Rgds

|
|
Hi All,
I took my fabia diesel for second service today. IT has around 29500 km on the odo. I was shocked at the quote of 12500 + tax given to me by Farenhiet Moti nagar, following being the details:
1. engine oil, all filters change: 7000
2.Surface Refinement( after some questioning they said they do injector cleaning in it): 2000
3.Lubrication, tank additive (No idea what is this): 1500
4. Throttle body cleaning: 1500
5.Washing !!!: 600
Has anybody else seen this kind of service being done earlier? Are all these things like injector cleaning and Throttle body cleaning required at 30000 km?
Are all service centers now charging for Washing too??
Just wanted to know whether its the same across or only with Farenheit, Please do let me know.
Thanks & Regards,
EDIT: I checked with 2 other service centers and cancelled the Throttle body cleaning and surface refinements....guess they can wait for another 15000 kms... Please do let me know your views, as i'm still confused...
Regards, |

They are taking you for a ride. I guess this is your 2nd and free service.
Most likely point 3 is just for money minting. In fact you should avoid 3 totally. Point 5 should be free unless you go for interior cleaning. I often get feedback call from Skoda asking me if my car was cleaned before delivery or not. You got Be firm and question things, they will never mend their ways. _________________ Robin |

Thanks for replying.
As i mentioned, I asked them (Farenheit Moti Nagar) not to do the throttle body cleaning and injector cleaning, all that was left to fight was the Washing part!!.
they were quite adamant that its Skoda mandate..finally I made them talk to the service manager of another Skoda showroom Arshia in Faridabad and they rolled back the charges saying another circular had come which they were not aware of.
This seems like a way to fleece the customers, so those who will not fight will pay and people like me will spend half an hour on discussions and be releived of the amount..
Has anybody else such issues or is it with Farenheit only. Also please do let me know when exactly will injector cleaning and throttle cleaning be required.
Incidentally after reaching home i checked for Oil leverls too, as i had no faith on them, i saw black oil on the oil meter, so i called them again to know whether they changed oil or not, (they had charged for that) and i was told that oil meter in diesel cars show black oil only and i can confirm it from anywhere else too....Any views on this please, is it true or again its a fleecing practice..pelase advice.
My apologies if we are not allowed to write in bold as above but i wanted to highlight the question.. |

I googled and found the below two links on how often to clean injectors.
http://www.racq.com.au/motoring/cars/car_advice/car_fact_sheets/injector_cleaning
http://www.ehow.com/about_5523445_do-clean-fuel-injector.html
There is no definite answer and lot depends on the driving conditions. I have not got it done so far, even at 40k kms. Anyway if it is a mandate from Skoda then it should have been free as your's is a free service (just like engine oil change labor is free).
Regarding the oil color - I read somewhere that the color turns black black very quickly. It will be hard to judge just by looking at the color after driving a few miles. _________________ Robin |

Oil turns black immediately on driving.
I had asked for EGR cleaning durring the third service , service supervisor said not needed.
I feel skoda is not going to do any much cleaning of engine components , except replace if needed . _________________ Rgds

Got second service of fabia 1.2 petrol at sagar skoda bhopal.
total cost for service Rs6880/-
all four filters changed. but oil was charged for only 3.3 ltr and that to of castrol not shell .i dont understand that earleir air filter which was changed during first service was only Rs 98 but now it is around Rs 360.total four filters costing Rs2300/-.What was the earlier air filter and why was it cheap. Also in first service i was charged for 4 ltr oil shell make.
Skoda should look into the matter of oil as their is no firm guideline.
the cleaning of the car was not good and lower area was not at all cleaned. |
