I was also planning for the same but somehow Iam getting different prices for Engine Oil from different dealers! : Shocked
So would like to authenticate the prices for different parts.

Guys Pls upload your recent service records (any service) to compare the prices of all the parts.

My bill for fourth service.
My overall experience at Vinayak this time was below par. Most of the people I knew were on leave and the new SAs are simply to be avoided.

I had another grouse - they charged for all shorts of sprays and was also billing for the Misc. code. I had to teach them the meaning of misc. and show my previous bill posted on this forum to strike that off.

I usually don't get the wheel balancing and alignment done by them. But this time time I gave in due to time pressure. They charged an outrageous 1500/-. My bill at 'tyre professionals' never crossed 700/-

There was a rattle from dashboard which is gone for the time being (I was suspecting the AC filter) so I am partly happy. But they introduced some noise in the rear brake drums. All this after cleaning it and charging me for it. I am hoping it will become normal in due course of time.

I am also suspecting the amount of engine oil filled. They have charged for less than 3 lts. Will do the due check this morning before driving.

But would that matter considering 'most' parts are now made in-house [in India]? Hardly anything is imported, I would guess [except critical parts, maybe]?

I got my car's brake noise fixed today. The culprit was the spring that is attached to the brake shoes. It required lubrication as it was washed clean when the mechs cleaned the brakes last time.

Interesting, Rob.. So it wasn't any water inside; instead it was lack of lubrication. Thanks for sharing..

After 32K kms. I made a mistake i shoudl have done that at 30K, because of overusing the brake pads, it created lines on the disc which cost me another 4K.

Robin, You changed the barkes after 35000 kms I presume.
So looks like safer to change the barakes and barake drum after 35000 kms.
How much does the brake drum , brake pad and front disk brakes cost.

Did you get the brake warning light on dash to suggest the pads are worn out , or you were told by service center to change it.

I had replaced the front brake pads at 25000 kms, SA would suggest at 30,000 kms . cost me close to 3k.

My brake drums are fine. SA said brake shoes needs replacement usually after 60k kms. Makes sense with FWD as the front brake does most of the duty.

If you are watchful about brake pads (front) and shoes (rear), the rotor (front) and drums (rear) will serve you for long.

I changed it after the warning (should have listen to the SA last time which was at 28K)

Not sure of the electronic part. Brake pads have a pin which gets exposed when the pads wear out. This pin then comes in contact with the rotor and makes noise under braking. This is a mechanical indicator one should watch out for.

Replaced the Front Disk along with the Brake Pads.
1 Set Brake Pads -2785
Ventilated Brake Disk- 3727
Misclaneous ( probably one Sensor)- 207
Total Material- 6719

Labor Rs 800 + Service Tax 98 @12.36% ( as per yesterdays budget increase in serv tax from 10.3 %)

Total- Rs 8559

The Brake Pads were worn out more than 70 % compare to the new ones.
The Brake pads are still imported.
Not aware of the Brake discs as these are castings and should be made locally.

Costly affair but for safety purpose have to shell out close to 9K just to replace the front brakes Sad

Vinayak seems to be finding new ways to rip us. This a second case of rotor replacement (as many) at as early as 30kms.

Here is what I found on net. I will be going for pad replacement soon. Will keep in mind the rotor story. So far I don't see any of below symptoms.

# If the front brakes have been squealing loudly, you may need pads only.
# If the car or brake pedal has been shaking when braking, you'll need to have the rotors resurfaced (called "turning"), or replace them.
# If the car pulls to one side while braking, but stays straight otherwise, you may need calipers. This is a sign of uneven wear of your brake pads which is because of uneven pressure in your brake lines.
# If the brakes have a grinding noise, this means rotors are done, spent, wasted, or whatever you want to call it, just replace them.
